Its gonna be well hard to come off benefits cos basically are better off on them LOL

but i dnt wanna be on them :(

you say that but at the moment i am better of working that i would be if i didnt, if i moved i dont know how it would work, but atm i get £710 WTC and child care and £18.10 child benifit plus my £400 wages

When I was on income support and in council accomodation I had it so easy- no council tax to pay, no rent, they make it so easy for people.

Then met my OH we had to move (it was a tiny one bedroom flat) I got a part time job, he had a full time job, and we had all that rent to pay along with council tax, and now we can't afford anything, it makes me so mad :x Why can't they encourage couples instead of penalizing them?!!!

People in council houses are lucky- not only do they have the stability of knowing unless they really screw up, they can stay there whereas we could get evicted with just 2 months notice, but also the rent is very low. I was down for a house but they told me it is likely to be up to 6 years, which would mean me, the OH AND LO would all share a room until he was 9 years old!!! WTF?!!!

were on low income, and one of us works, we applied for council tax benefit which they work out going by your income and expenditure. you have to take proof in.

Then we recived a letter saying we only have to pay £23 a month.

We have a mortgage so that takes most the wages. so glad of the relief of council tax as they wanted over 1k a year

So if me and the other half go into our local council with our incomings/outgoings in a table, and they can see we genuinely can't afford it, theyw ill give us help, only it's got so stupid, every 3 months we are being threatened by a court summons  but if we could afford it we would pay it!!

I thought they only went by incomings and weren't too bothered about your outgoings!!!

What sort of proof do you need?

just phone up and ask for a council tax benefit form, you will have to state all your incoming and out goings, but you can proove the costs by showing bank statements and copies of bills etc i found our local office really helpful

Went to the council with a list of incomings/ outgoings, she said 'everybody had outgoings' and she cant do anything for us, the b*tch :x She didn't even bloody look at what I'd written, wouldnt give us a form, nothing...

On working it out I discovered we get minus £90 left over at the end of the month, at this rate we are gonna be bankrupt

Going to see citizens advice tomorrow, its so stupid :x

there is no way of ghetting out of a council tax bill

when i moved into my house it was not in a band, brandnew house and they said it would take a good fewmoths to get it in a band group and registerd and once it is sorted they would back date the bill so i pay double noe £190 a month

talking of benifits every one must watch the show on tonight 10pm not sure what channel normal tv though

The one with that bloke, his wife and mistress and 11 kids?

I think it is absolutely disgusting when me and my OH, and little schmieran go without to fund people like that.

Since going to the council, I am on a mission, and am currently writing to 10 downing street as well as various other people!
