I've been to see my GP tonight because yesterday i found a swelling in my tummy that was too high up to be baby & it was very tender on my left side, he's had a feel at my tummy and said its my uterus, he thinks i'm either about 16 weeks (not likley, first bfp was very faint) or carrying twins

How good/well trained are gp's at dealing with pregnancy?????? i've spent the last couple of hours trying to convince myself that doctors know nothing about pregnancy :rotfl: anyway i should know for sure soon as he's re-arranging my dating scan for asap.

I'm not sure i can cope with having 6 kids :?

   I've no idea in answer to your question but maybe after 4 other children that's why your uterus is higher earlier?

Good luck with your dating scan and how exciting if it's twins!!!

I'd try not to worry until after your scan but know that if it is twins, you will cope. Many people do it and you will be fab as well.

Big hugs, try not to get too worked up!

Hmmm...I'd say your GP could be wrong. They aren't midwives or specialists after all!! Its prob a good adea that your bringing your scan forward though!!

Aha! Found 'the other thread'

My midwife told me that GPs are crap when it comes to pregnancy (maybe a sweeping generalisation...). BUT if you think that GPs have to know a bit about everything, very few are experts in anything specific like pregnancy.

So, in summary, it is entirely plausible that your GP is wrong - suppose the scan is the only way to tell for sure!

DISCLAIMER: This post is not intended as an attack on GPs. I go to a surgery full of excellent GPs and frankly, I wouldn't want the responsibility of their jobs! Thank you bye.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Always cover your back  I'm 99.9% sure my GP is wrong, i got pregnant the first month of ttc & my first bfp was so faint, so i dont really think its possible that i'm futher on and as for the twin thing  please be wrong
But if i get my scan a bit sooner :D :D :D
