Who wants to confirm/deny the realism of the labour??

Well that was no where near as dramatic as Eastenders YET! Id say, from my experiances that it was too far off.
But no doubt its only going to get alot worse!! So ill confirm/deny when shes in full blown labour x x

I didn't see it but here's what labour was like with DD:

First felt faint cramps at 3pm and just ignored them until 6pm when I phoned my sister and went to hers. Still was having contractions but nothing painful, more like they were there. Ate dinner and went to bed at 9pm. Was woken up at 3am with stronger contractions and went to the hospital at 4am. Still wasn't in any severe pain. Used the birthing ball they had in the room and at 6am got in the birthing pool. Decided to try the entinox as the contractions were getting worse but it made me sick and I had to get out of pool to throw up. Bounced on the ball a bit more and the contractions were getting stronger and more painful, nothing I couldn't handle though and had my show whilst bouncing. I was getting pretty tired and at 9 am I got into bed. I won't say it wasn't painful but I could cope and was still joking with my sister. At 9.50 I was examined and told I could start pushing. At 10.21 am DD was born. I didn't scream/shout/cry etc as I never felt the need and I never felt like I couldn't cope with the contraction pain. Did ask my sister to do it for me at one point though as I was tired x hth

Well Helen yours wasnt' like molly's then, she screamed on the first contraction which maybe does happen to some people. Second half's on later for more comparisons  xx

It's always going to be more 'entertaining' to show a 'horror' labour and birth than a calm one. I don't watch soaps. We're never shown positive labour and birth stuff and it really pisses me off! No wonder women are terrified of something so natural when we're bombarded with negativity! Sorry bout the rant x

with E my first contraction stopped me in my tracks! although it wasnt cos it was mega painful, it was more just a shock and was like, strong, but not really painful, which makes no sense, cant explain it! watching that kinda made me a bit like, ooo, cos i remember the trying to ignore it not really believing it was going to happen bit! it was so completely different with K tho, a really slow build up to it (took 23 hours )

but yea, i think its quite realistic! 9 months and a few days ago, i'd have told you it was bullshit, but its pretty similar to what i went thru!!

I had a quiet labour! I dunno I dealt with pain better quietly.. Only time I started making noise was when Odhráns shoulders came out and even at that it wasn't that dramatic  xx

me too febmum! i didnt make a sound! well, cept from telling my dad repeatedly that i could feel her head coming out

I always go really really quiet and just seethe when I'm in lots of pain. Wonder if labour will be the same lol x

I make an eeekkk/oooooooo sound with the head and shoulders with Lucas but I was quiet apart from that. I was concentrating on my breathing rather than screaming. But I trusted my body because I did it with just gas and air with Jacob too. Difference is I screamed like a banshee with Jacob coz I was scared more than in pain iykwim. I think that any reaction to labour shown on tele could be true to someones experience (to an extent) xx

I suppose it's only quite natural to make a bit of a grunt when you're trying to push a watermellon out of you fanooshka!!

 Watermelon?? That's just the head  I'm kidding, it's some relief when it comes out like!!

you know what, the actual delivery was too calm for my liking! i feel like mine was dead paniked! although i also thought i was like shouting in pnic too, which i apparently didnt! although they had a bit longer to prepare than the 3 minutes it took me

I think you were just trying to do the ping pong ball trick, with a BABY

I'm sooo sure there was no need for the drama on the Easties birth, haven't seen the Corrie one yet....
Although I watched "Special Delivery" the other night and all but one of them were screamers too!

I dunno, suppose I'll find out in a few months! LOL
