sorry TMI but I have not been for a number 2 in around 5 days!!! I do suffer from IBS but its usually the other way (again sorry TMI) im really bloated and uncomfortable and just want to have a poo!!! anybody got any suggestions that does not contain prune juice? my mum swears by prune juice but I cannot stomach it...also anybody else been constipated this early in pregnancy? don't remember this with DD.

I would suggest natural senna tablets which you can buy from Boots. Otherwise, drink plenty and make sure you are well hydrated and pears have always worked for me.

Are you taking pregnacare supplements? I do believe that they also have a natural laxative in them.

Good luck!

I am taking pregnacare pregnancy vitamins but still nothing happening. will ask about senna. :)

I'm eating lots of fruit, freshly squeezed fruit juices, prunes, dried figs and I'm also taking Lactulose. I saw ( on other forum ) women talking about some kind of fibre drink that's called Fybogel but I haven't tried it yet. xx

I literally took 1 senna at night and bobs your uncle. After I had Jackson my bowels regulated like clockwork. Before pregnancy I could be anything up to 14 days without going.

Xxx

Eminasya ive had fybogel its awful. I've had ibs since I was 15 and dr tried me in fybogel, only tried it the once, couldn't stomach it.xx

When I was younger like in my teens-late teens I was on Movicol. Not sure if this is safe during pregnancy but that is equally awful. Some people quite like it, but its like a powder for your drinks and to me it just makes them feel thick and not nice.

xxx

Hi Love87, I have been having a bit of trouble with constipation too but mines not been as bad as waiting 5 days to go. I have IBS too and its normally the other way.. haha lucky us huh?!

Normally a hot drink or fruit juice helps me. Do you eat much fibre? It might be worth working more into your diet xx

Thanks ladies, I finally went to the loo! :yay: was with doc and today and he said it can be normal to go a week without a poo! I was horrified to say the least. I think I'm maybe not taking in as much fibre as I should because there is very little I can stomach and to be honest. I ate 4 oranges yesterday and it seemed to do the trick. I'm just going to eat lots of fruit and hopefully it will keep me going like clockwork! Thanks for all th advise. Can honestly say I'd be lost without you all. X

Lactulose was another I remember being recommended, I never tried it in the end though. My mums always sworn by eating a fig, too (fig rolls have the same effect apparently!!!). Make sure you're drinking plenty though (sip lots if you're struggling to keep it down), the likelihood is you're a bit dehydrated because of all the sickness so this is just another side effect of that xxx

I had lactulose and fybogel when I had my third degree tear to make sure I couldn't get constipated (as it was I was terrified to go lol!)lactulose is lovely and sweet ;).
Im on ondansetron atm and it causes really bad constipation. Even with all the fibre im taking I still take senakot. All works well in my experience :)
