Hi ladies,

Sorry for the tmi question - but does constipation get better as you move through pregnancy?

I'm in week 10 and it's awful at the moment (I've just been on the loo for 45 minutes - it must be some kind of forum record lol! - and still haven't been).

It's just so frustrating - I keep wanting to go - but can't push anything through the 'opening' (sorry tmi, but I have to *really* push too - and all for nothing!).

How has it been for everyone else? Has anyone had similar problems?

Clare

It does ease but it comes bk.
I suffered bad. Do not force it or u will end up with piles. That's killer.
Loads of water, eat fruit n veg, bran flakes helped too.

I'm afraid mine is only just starting to ease now. I strained too much and ended up with a pile, not pleasant. Plenty of water, take fibre bars for breakfast, dried fruit and prunes helped me.

Thanks :)

Do the piles hurt when you're on the toilet? I've avoided them so far (but if I don't strain, then I don't go)

mine was really bad to begin with and by about 18w it eased off and i havent really had any problems since.

The pile is very uncomfrtable. the only way i can describe it is like a big grape hanging down! Had to put some sudocream on it. The key is to try not strain so try those things i suggested above.

hey! ive not had any piles but boy have i been constipated to the point of bleeding! sorry to break it to ya! all the way through! x

Oh no! xxx

So it might not get any better? (Don't laugh, but it got so bad last week that I accidentally broke the toilet seat off it's fixings at the back, whilst trying to go!)

My biggest worry is - I work in an office all week from 8.30am to 5pm and (I know this is really stupid) but I can't go on the toilets at work. There are only two cubicles, and people are always using one of them - and I'm too embarrassed and nothing happens!

That then makes me feel even more stressed in the mornings because I *have* to go before I leave (if I need to), or wait all day until the evening.
