Poppy has had a bad cold for the past couple of days, but today when she woke up both of her eyes were weeping loads of yellowish green gunge. Her eyes are also really bloodshot. I've booked an appointment with the GP first thing tomorrow morning, but does this sound like conjunctivitis? it dries crusty and looks really uncomfortable, bless her.
I've been cleaning them with cotton wool dipped in cooled boiled water, but they start weeping again within about 20mins :(

It does sound like conjunctivitis especially if she's had a cold bless her xx you're doing the right thing cleaning them with cooled boiled water and cotton wool, just remember to change the cotton wool after every wipe x

Sounds like it chick. My LO had it about 4 weeks ago, he to had a cold at the time. Docs gave us some eye drops and it cleared up within 2/3 days xxxxx

Yeah it defo sounds like conjuctivitus.

With the cotton pads, only use one wipe per pad, so as not to transfer germs.

I'm almost positive my MW said to put a bit of salt in the water, but you might wana googe/check it out first, coz im not 100%

xxxxxxxx

Thanks all. It is conjunctivitis, the doctor thinks it's bacterial just by looking at Poppy's eyes. She didn't even take a swab, just prescribed anti-biotic eye drops straight away. x

salt water in eyes would be bad but for eye problems ive always used cold tea to bathe the eye affected. it works wonders and its lovely and soothing. the tannins in the tea are good for clearing up mild inflammation or infections.
