My midwife has wrote 1/5 in the box relation to brim in my notes, what does that mean? Is 1/5 of the head in my pelvis or is 1/5 of the head not in pelvis. Have tried googling but getting mixed answers.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, it's written both ways depending on your midwife.

1/5 could mean 1/5 of the head in the pelvis, or, only 1/5 still above the pelvis.

1/5 in is not really considered "engaged" (that comes around 3/5 in), so if nothing mentions engaged, I'd say it's 1/5 in the pelvis.

I hope that helps xx

Yea you have to ask midwife.

Mine goes the other way, she's written 4/5ths (she can feel 4/5ths of babys head)

I used to be so confused over this!! I wish it meant the same thing! It's not good when it isn't explained and different midwives use it differently! I'll be asking at every appointment what they mean I think! :) Id go with what above said though, if engaged isn't mentioned then baby must be just starting to engage.. Good luck x
