Confused!!!

Hi I'm on my first cycle of IVF, so far I've done 2 weeks of buserelin (down reg) and went for a scan and bloods today to see if I can start gonal f. My scan showed that my follicle count is higher than normal though?!! I think last year it was 9 and my scan at the beginning if my last cycle showed 8 so it had reduced - my amh is low though so I was just glad it hadn't reduced too much. My scan today showed 11 follicles though which means I have more follicles on buserelin than naturally!! Buserelin is supposed to shut your system down so I don't understand. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it normal?? Waiting for a phone call about my bloods but I'm a bit worried this means it hasn't worked...

That does sound strange. I didn't think the follicles could be counted until you start the stimulation medication, unless its the empty follicles. If there are too many you might get OHSS but I don't think you'd need to worry about that until they've grown to the right size.

Thanks Blueflower, it mustn't be anything to worry about as they've said they're happy with everything. It was just the opposite of what I was expecting! xx
