*Hi just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and knows why it is happening. Every time I breast feed my baby he throws literally it all up, but when I give him formula he doesn't. Really want tp carry on breastfeeding but I can't if this keeps happening***

Could be an intolerance to your milk, milk proteins pass to baby through you and some little systems can't cope with it. I suspected this when DD was tiny so went on a dairy free diet. It made no difference and it seems she just had reflux which she outgrew quite quickly.

Have a google around breastmilk intolerance, there's loads out there. Good luck.xx

Was looking on google and came across something called pyloric stenosis which has really worried me now, but if it was that then formula would also make him throw up like that.

Hmm maybe step away from google if it is scaring you Hun, have chat to your HV. It's easy to fear the worst with google but as you say it he doesn't throw up with formula it's unlikely to be that :-).

It could even be something like reflux caused by something in your diet, too much spice, onions, chocolate etc. try keeping track of what you've eaten and see if there's any correlation. Xx

hi go have a chat with your gp and see what they say,it could be due to a few reasons but it could be reflux(my lo had it its now gone) formula is thicker than breastmilk so easier to keep down. When they are sick it does seem like loads but my los weight has always been fine so he must of kept some down. If its that they can give lo gaviscon and you can keep bf they do grow out of it and some gps dont give anything unless baby isnt thriving. I did wonder was baby intolerant to my milk but gp said no i still cut dairy out incase seemed to help a little hv said he maybe just had a sensitive tummy. Anyway hope you get it sorted we kept up bf and it hasnt harmed my lo bothered me more than him i think.

I commented in your other thread, but I just wanted to add that my cousin's baby had pyloric stenosis and ended up having surgery for it, but I'm fairly certain that he carried on throwing up when they moved from breast feeding to formula. However, if you are worried about it then definitely talk to your GP/HV about it, even if it's just so they can put your mind at ease :)

First of all, how old is your lo and how is the weight gain? Any issues at all? Breastmilk is lighter than formula so it might be reflux but you probably want to see a hv/gp if you are concerned. I really doubt the problem is your milk, if it was CMPI, formula would be a problem, too, even more so
