Ok so in sept I am having 2 wisdoms out that have badly curved roots and I went and googled it ( because I am a total bellend ) and I am shitting it!!

I get to be knocked out that's not it, its afterwards I am worried about!

Anyone had this done that can share their experience I have to have my gums cut open

Someone please reassure me!

 Fapatalking

My friend had it done and said it was sore but bearable. Mum also did and said she was okay.
Good excuse to eat ice cream!!
Does that mean you won't be wise anymore? ;) x

I had one out, bottom right.
I was awake and it didnt hurt. The recovery for me took a week.

It differs for everyone, I was unlucky (wont go into details)

Lots of luck hun xx

I had all 4 of mine out for that reason when I was about 17! Honestly it wasn't that bad cos I was asleep! Having one out under local was worse! Worst bit for me was the hamster cheeks, I swear I looked like carol mcgiffin :|

I have hun. Had 2 upper wisdom teeth which grew into the middle and 2 lower pre molars that were stuck between 2 others.

The upper ones weren't so bad but lower they had to drill my jaw bone and I could feel bone afterwards - grim. I also had a tingly chin (seriously!) for 3 months as they'd hit nerves.

I could only eat cold yogurt after as I felt like my mouth was a murder scene but it does heal fairly quickly, if that's any consolation. General anesthetic can make you v groggy and emotional so make sure OH is on hand to take care of you.

Hope I've not made you feel more nervous. I'm a huge wimp so I'm not the best patient really! Good luck xxx

Take all the pain killers they offer and get loads of soup and ice cream in.

The mouth heals REALLY quickly, so even if your a little uncomfortable when you wake up things will get much better very quickly x

Thanks girls I want to know what to expect so don't be scared to say it hurts after!

Lol jayne I'm screwed if wisdom teeth made me wise! Why are they called wisdom teeth anyways

So I am to expect hamster cheeks, much ice cream and liquid food and tlc.....and a week off work

Sounds good to me lol! Cept the pain part but I did just have a boil on my arse operated on so I'm sure I will be ok!

I am scared of something called dry socket damned evil google!!

 Fapatalking

I had dry socket. Very painful and take the painkillers!
I was off work for a week, mostly in bed. Ended up at the dental hospital for repacking twice and then stitch removal.

You should know to stay away from google by now  xx

Lol I know charliebear  I reduced myself to tears as It sound so brutal!

I'm sure I will be fine with plenty of pain meds!!

Eek!

 Fapatalking

I was petrified of getting dry socket too, thank fook I didn't! Oh and a bit lftwn advice, DON'T drink milk just after having it done! My mum told me to drink some to fill me up as I didn't want to eat, then sat there smirking as I ran upstairs in a cold sweat to be very poorly! You swallow blood as they're operating and it doesn't agree with milk

OH! MY! GOSH!

I just googled dry socket! I don't like going to the dentist...hadn't been for like 13 years but went last year when I was pregnant because I knew they couldn't do anything :) But I went in May to have an extraction and the dentist was fabulous however afterwards I had to sit in the car for like 10 minutes before I could drive off because I was literally shaking with adrenaline!

I was due back the following week but cancelled and plucked up the courage to make another appointment yesterday for September as thankfully my dentist is off on hols :)

Lynette you are so brave hun, but DO NOT GOOGLE! xx

^^ I'm the exact same, we went some time last year and I vommed just making the appt  I had a couple of fillkngs done and ones chipped but I'm not going back!

well it is totally my fault as i am SO scared of the dentist i havent been in 10 years :faint:

had i of gone, i would have been able to have these out ages ago at a younger age

i am concerned as i read its not recommended past the age of 24?!!!! and i am 27, nearly 28!

*must not google any more*

i am NOT googling dry socket no way

Isn't it awful ladies :(

I'm trying to make an effort to go as I want LO to not be afraid iykwim. I had her registered with the dentist from when she got her first tooth, and she's due her six month check up next month too and I don't want her to see me freaking out all the time when I go

I can sit and get tattooed for hours but when it comes to the dentist I'm a baby!

Hun I'm 30 and had an impacted wisdom tooth (tooth grows into roots of other tooth damaging it) removed in Feb at 29.

When you come round they offer you a cuppa and something to eat. Stock up on lots of soups. TBH it went well since I had my wisdom tooth and the molar in front removed. Healed up quick with not too much pain.

The agony for me was all the ulcers in my throat and mouth but I'm prone to them. Without those the op would of been a doddle :)

I had my lower wisdom tooth under general in 2010, I got dry socket too. It is extremely painful, but just take the painkillers. I actually found the first few days fine until I got dry socket. I think I caused it though by drinking through straws, which is a big no no! I actually ate toast straight after the op with a cup of tea and had KFC the next day! I think I was off work a week too xx
