Combining bottle and breast feeding

Anyone succesfully combined breast and bottlefeeding?

Any tips?

my best friend! she started with one formula feed a day, and now all the daytime feeds are on formula and nighttime are her own milk whether expressed or breastfed. x

I plan on doing that too! Breast thru the day and formula at night (so that OH can do his share of night feeds! )
Also as far as I can tell, formula fed babies tend to sleep thru the night at an early age compared to breastfed babies - summat to do with formula being more filling than breast
milk. Sleeping babies means happy mummies!

i'm so annoyed as i didnt know u could do this till few dys ago. i tryed breast feeding but it didnt work out. ppl in the hospital didnt tell em i could express and formula feed at same time. i could kick myself now as i'm assuming it 2 late 2 do that now

I will need to do this but dont want to use formula. Will be planning to express once i have established breastfeeding. Have been advised to use Dr Brown's bfeeding bottles... anyone used them?

never too late to get expressing again Mel, you can reintroduce it as far as I have read , have a look online, there is loads of info, you have not long had your baby

So I gave zach his first bottle of formula, he took 4oz, which is about the same as what he has of expressed breast milk (he is 4weeks, think he prob weighs about 8 and a half lb). About an hour after the feed he threw up a lot of milk, it was everywhere! Do you think I gave him too much, or do you think he has an intolerance to something? X

I think you can reintroduce breast milk, speak to a breastfeeding councillor xxx

When Ava-Mai had her first bottle of formula she did bring a little back but her first bottle was only 1oz as it was used to top up my breastmilk as it didn't seem enough for her.

She's on 4oz now aswell and still brings a little back, could be if he took it in a little fast aswell maybe.

Im sure you have already been warned but a lot of babies who are on formula can get bunged up and only have a dirty nappy every few days but either way not as maybe when they were on breastmilk. Ava used to have a dirty nappy every change when she was breastfed but now its about once a day with her having formula through the day.

I gave him another bottle yesterday and he was fine, so I'm going to give him one a day and express for that feed so OH can help with the feeding (he felt he was missing out on that).
