Are they dangerous in pregnancy?

I have had one or two in my life (none in the past 5 years!!)

I thought I had one coming up, but OH who does get them said it isn't??

I think it is actually just a horrible spot... Just in time for the massive christening I am going to tomorrow, boo hiss!

I don't think they are dangerous during pregnancy, although, if it is a coldsore, I'm not sure what u can take to get rid of it.

And its sods law that something should pop up just in time for the christening tomorrow lol x

A medicated lip balm or sudocrem might help. I thought that as we've had it in our system before being pg that we already had some antibodies to deal with it and therefore wouldn't harm our LOs xx

Don't think they are dangerous. I hadn't had any for years - now had 2 in pregnancy! Think because our bodies are doing so much growing a baby it gets lazy with protecting us against silly little cold sores! Best thing is to completely leave them alone but on first one I sprayed some aftershave on it. Kills something in it & dries it out x

Don't think they're dangerous just a buggerance more than anything. I've had 2 since my BFP :( nothing some cream won't sort out though x

I could be wrong but I'm sure i heard if the mother carries the coldsore virus then the child already has it in the their system. Some people only carry and pass it on others come out with the coldsores x

No that's false. Its only passed to the baby if the mother has genital herpes and has a flare up of the virus and has a vaginal delivery, as that way, the baby touches the sores.

Other than that, baby is at no risk of catching the virus.
