Iv had a bad cold and cough since before I found out I'm pregnant, I had been taking some cough medicin up untill I realised I was preggo and I stopped taking it but now this cough has lasted four weeks and it won't shift. Iv been thinking of taking benylin tickly cough medicin, does anyone know if it's safe?

Personally I'm not sure but I've always been told to only take paracetamol in pregnancy unless advised by a doctor. Best thing for helping a cough is either milk or milk and honey as it sticks to the back of the throat and stops the tickle

The reason why things are deemed to be unsafe in pregnancy or your not allowed to take it is because they havent been able to test it on pregnant woman (who would happily be a guinea pig eh?!) so your best to ask your doctor! It could be making you run down and that could be worse than taking some cough medicine to speed up your recovery?
Get we soon hun xxx

Thanx everyone I spoke to my doctor today who suggested honey and lemon drink and inhaling steam in the evenings he said there's nothing to prove either way weather it's safe or not to take anything and as I feel I'm getting better il stick with his advice
