Cody Liam Isaac Jones was Born 8th October 6.17pm Weighing 5lb 13.5oz.
Hi ladies, now ive got 5 minutes to sit down I thought i'd write out my birth story.... Went in to hospital on Sunday 6th at 8am for induction, they were pretty confident that things would happen quickly due to it being my second baby and I should only need 1 pessary, it took a little while but they finally got round to doing it and off we trotted for a walk waiting for something to happen, after 6 hours not even a single twinge and was only 1cm so they repeated the process once again confident that something would happen, once again we went about our day wondering around the hospital having a bath ect and nothing happened apart from i'd got to 2cm so they said for me to get a good nights sleep as they could only do 2 pessarys in 24 hours and we would try again in the morning. had a few contractions through the night but nothing to shout about. Monday morning came around and by the time we finally saw the doctors it was 11am and the plan was to examine me and if they could break my waters do so if not give me another pessary and hope that helped as the maximum they could give me was 4 pessarys. when they checked I was still 2cm and the midwife said she could break my waters but didn't want to as my cervix was still a little long so was going to give me 1 more pessary and break my waters that evening if they hadn't gone themselves. had contractions through the afternoon but they were only coming every 10-15 mins lasting 30 seconds, 6pm they examined me again and I was 2.5cm so they broke my waters expecting me to go into labour strait away and the plan was made for me to go have a bath and then get me up to delivery suit and put me on a drip, I went off for my bath and started getting stronger tightening by this point and when I came back the midwifes had changed over to the night staff and this new midwife was horrible and said oh no we're not sending you up just yet we'll leave it a few hours. every hour I was asking if I was going upstairs and she kept saying no for different reasons and even 2 ladies got sent up before me and 1 wasn't even in labour, once again morning came round and still hadn't made it upstairs by this point I was upset and having strong pains coming every 5-7 minutes, the doctors came round and said they'll get me upstairs that morning and when the midwife called upstairs they said it would be lunchtime. Finally at 11.50am someone came down to collect me to take me up stairs and they checked me and I was still only 2.5cm but contracting well so i went off for a bath and they set me up on the drip about 3.30 to be turned up every 30 mins for 4 hours, when they connected me to the monitor babys heartbeat was high but because mine was also high they said they would monitor him and keep and eye on it, after 2 hours the midwife had to call the doctor in as babies heartbeat was sky high and dropping really low everytime I had a contraction, it was nice because the doctor was the same one who was there when I delivered theo. she was really concerned and when they examined me I was only 4cm even though was contraction like I was 10cm so she made the decision they needed to get baby out then by emergency c section and I just burst into tears. Next thing I knew there was loads of people in my room and the anaesthetist was going through the procedure and about a spinal block and asking me loads of questions It was hard to listen as I was in middle of contractions at the time, next thing I was signing some paperwork and my bed being ran down the hall to theatre. Liam got asked to get in scrubs and meet us in there and I remember sitting at the side of the bed looking out the window across to the sea (our delivery suit is on 14th floor) liam came in and was holding my hand and I had a ask on my face asking me to breath and to lean right forward, also had people trying to get a cannula in my hand as ive got really bad veins they hadn't managed to do it before, the doctors we're getting in each others way and arguing with each other and I remember them putting local on my back and telling me to sit really still, next thing I heard the big doctor say we haven't got time we need to get this baby out now and they said they were going to do it be general anesthetic, I was hysterically crying as I knew I was going to miss the birth and also liam was. Liam was asked to leave the room and I was asked to lay down on this tiny bed, I had my eyes tightly shut and just remember loads of people talking around me, 1 holding a mask to my face which I could hardly breath through, more working on my hands, some trying to put a catheter in and 1 putting the stuff on my tummy to keep it sterile. the next thing I heard was the big doctor going this baby needs to come out now and that was the last thing I remember before waking up in recovery 2 hours later, Baby Cody Isaac Jones was born at 6.17pm weighing 5lb 13.5oz. from the time liam left the room to baby being here was 5 minutes. Cody was in shock and wasnt breathing and his apgar score was 1 so they had to put a tube down him to give him a few breaths before he finally took his first 3 minutes after being born. After 5 minutes his apgar score was at 10 and he was taken out to liam shortly after who got skin to skin strait away. Im not really great at being knocked out so took me a long time to come round to things and I didnt get to hold him till 11.30pm as wasnt with it enough to hold him but since then I can hardly put him down, hes just perfect in every single way and a lot smaller than we thought he would be, we are totally in love with him and even after the horrendous experience I went through for him to make his grand entrance into this world I would totally do it again. Theo is a perfect big brother and being so loving towards him and I feel like I have my perfect little family.
