Does anyone else co-sleep? I've always been against it as I have always believed that us adults need our space but I have had Lucas in bed with me for some or all of the night since he was born! At first it was easier for breast feeding, then it was easier for settling him and now it's for my benefit lol I just love the closeness I feel when cuddling him in. He has outgrown his Moses basket and we can't fit a cot in our room with the super king size bed, so I have him sleep with me :cloud9: OH does not approve but I couldn't care less xx

We have a cot which Liam has modified to fit flush to the bed, we intend to co-sleep for a good three years or so so we wanted a real sense of 'his space' and 'our space' regardless of how we mix the two up :)

We dont have a moses basket, we have a crib for downstairs though :)

If i had of got a Moses basket i would have been all too tempted to float it down the river ;)

We co slept for the first 6 weeks. As he's been going to sleep at a more regular time and waking less, I've started with him in the crib next to my bed (10pm ish) till he wakes for a feed (3/4/5am) then he comes in with us till we get up.

Hebe was the same and then as her bed time slowly got earlier we eventually moved her to her own room at 6 months.

Hey Toon,

Me and OH both work in quite stressful jobs with long hours so when H wakes up in the night (really not often at all now but 4 months or so ago it was most nights) if he wouldn't settle, we'd put him in with us - mostly cos we really needed our sleep for the 5:15 alarm for work in London some days :(

There's something really nice about co-sleeping too...although I have to say that I like it now that he's hardly ever in with us, especially with a new one on the way.

My view is that if it works for you, then do it - there is no animal in nature who leaves their young to sleep away from them and we never did it until we built houses and lifestyles with bedrooms for kids....
xxxx

I slept with DD in my bed until she was 2 years old and she still loves to climb in with me and sleep x I still love it though getting punched in the face has it's drawbacks (she moves a lot when sleeping) x I have already told OH that Seb will probably end up in with us-not only is it easier for feeds I love the bonding experience! He's adament it's not going to happen but when it's 2 am I don't think he's going to offer up too much complaining! Lol x it shocked me to learn the other day that the majority of hospitals in American still take the newborn baby away to sleep in a group nursery! And they think we're mad!!! I couldn't bear having my newborn taken away after birth! x x

Huge respect to you all! Rosie went in her big cot at 10 weeks, she was too long for her basket! I couldnt have her in bed with me, I wouldnt sleep at all as she wriggles so much! I do love snuggling her up to me in her bed, she is in a junior bed now and although its cramped for me I have settled her by getting in with her for an hour and then leaving when she is sound asleep :)

We are at the 3 yr co sleeping marker with Rhys! Although he only co sleeps half he night now!

I just love bed time cuddles. My other 2 boys are not cuddly at all but lucas likes nothing better than squeezing into mammy :cloud9: xx

no Fuzzy has always HATED co-sleeping!!!!!!!! booo-hooo!!!

she needs a whole pillow to herself to get maximum fuzzage going on by the morning!

Yep I co-slept with Jacob, he hardly went in his crib :D He is such a cuddle bug, I love it! He goes to sleep in his cot now though like a big boy with his own pillow and duvet x x

ooooohhhhh BTW my non cuddly baby (jacob) who will only sleep alone in his cot, not in the buggy, car, setee or anywhere else climbed up on the setee with me today while lucas was asleep on my chest, cuddled in, watched in the night garden and fell fast asleep. It was beautiful!! Both my ickle babies cuddled up to me asleep, so i thought it would be rude not to join in on the sleepingness  we were all flat out until my door buzzer went off. I woke up, but they stayed asleep so i didn't answer it. I rarely get jakey hugs and jakey rarely goes near Lucas without beating the crap out of him so it was soooo nice! Maybe one day he will climb into bed with me for a sleepy cuddle :) xx

:cloud9: toon... i 'awwwed' when i saw ur fbook status!

I had a co sleeper but the first few months my baby always slept on top of me, then he slept in our bed, now (at 11 months) we put him to bed in his own bed and right before the feeding during the night I put him in our bed and then he sleeps there until the morning. Makes it much easier for me, in his own bed he wakes up every hour (even though it is in the same room stuck to our bed). He always naps in our bed too (and then I take a nap too hehe).

Toon that's so lovely :cloud9:

I partially co-slept with Odhrán when he was younger, but I do try to get him into his crib beside me for his full nights sleep.. OH works really weird hours so when I'm in his or he's here he disturbs Odhrán getting in and out of bed, I loved him in with me :cloud9: It's so relaxed and comforting to have him so calm and close xx

I really really want to co sleep this time. My ex and my mum were totally against it last time and ganged up on me :( Every opportunity I got Eva was in beside mummy though. And now that I have split from him and live on my own she does come into mummy's bed for snuggles in the morning but she enjoys her own bed far too much at night.

This time I'm sticking to my guns though. And because I live alone no one actually has to know, so can't judge me  I'm hoping to manage breast feeding and not just expressing this time too so I'm sure co sleeping will make it much easier :)
