Hi Is it quite normal to have creamy cm on your open, soft, high cervix but not in underwear? I'm cd14 and not sure if I've already ovulated or if I'm due to ovulate in a day or two (temp was higher yesterday morning but I'd had alcohol and very little sleep, today it was high again but .1 degree lower). Yesterday I had creamy cm in my underwear and the day before much more of it. Today I've got virtually nothing in my underwear, but when I've checked my cervix there was a lot up there. Can anyone offer any words of wisdom please? Thank you! And babydust to all x

The honest answer is that it really does vary. Creamy CM is typically non fertile, so it’s most common to experience this before or after ovulation.

The most common type of ovulation CM is clear and stretchy - like egg whites. Some people have thin, watery CM instead at ovulation time.

However, there are quite a few people who never experience egg white CM and go on to conceive with creamy CM.

To summarise, it’s a bit difficult to tell as everyone can be different. I’d need to look at your temps to work out whether or not it looks like you’ve ovulated.

Have you used any OPKs?

Just re-read your post and saw your other one about having had a drink. Maybe temps aren’t that best indication this month but OPK could still be useful

Thank you, that's good to know that it varies massively. I used to get a LOT of ewcm when I was ttc years ago, but for the last few years I've not had it, only really had creamy and watery.

My chart looks like I have ovulated as I had a temp rise yesterday (was also advised it was very likely to be high due to alcohol and severe lack of sleep that night) which has stayed almost the same today.

Ovia predicts I'll ovulate on Friday based on previous months (I didn't chart temps those months though, it's going by cycle length and other symptoms). I'm just not sure. Grrr, it's so frustrating! X

I've just been sick - only bile - but it came over me suddenly. Weird.

I'll still temp for the rest of this month, and hopefully dtd tonight. I've written off this month for getting pregnant, but it may give me a better indication of what's going on if I continue to chart.

I've never used an opk before, I have no idea what to do with them or what they mean lol x

Charting is fab for recognising patterns in your body and predicting ovulation. I used the fertility friend app to help with charting.

OPK = ovulation predictor kit. Just a stick that you wee on, which detects the hormone surge right before ovulation. You can get a really cheap brand called OneStep off Amazon. They come with instructions on how to use them and they’re pretty good.

Illness can throw your temps off massively unfortunately. Hopefully next month’s temps will give you a better idea of what’s going on

Thank you em1994, that's great. Are the opks the same as testing your luteinising hormone? I've heard about testing that to see where you are in your cycle.

My temp has risen again this morning, like it could be triphasic? X

Yes, those are the same ones that test for LH. That’s the hormone you get when you’re about to ovulate.

If there’s another temp shift, it could mean ovulation possibly as your temps would most likely have been out of whack from being ill.

Some people get a triphasic chart when they fall pregnant. Here’s my chart when I conceived if you’re interested. For a triphasic chart indicating conception, you wouldn’t get a temp rise until at least 6-7days past ovulating

Ah ok, thank you. I definitely haven't conceived this month as we haven't dtd AT ALL this week:shakehead:

I've attached my chart, what do you think? I had the sudden bout of vomiting just before lunch, then left side ovary pain after lunch on cd15, which may indicate ovulation. Too late now to try for this month isn't it. X

Looks like ovulation was on CD15 as you have a big temp shift on CD16. The left side ovary pain probably did indicate ovulation. I got one sided cramps on ovulation day.

Probably is too late to conceive this month, sorry. Although some say the egg can be fertilised up to 48 hours after ovulation.

Thank you for looking at my chart and replying, I really appreciate it.

I've wiped out this month for us, so onwards onto next month. Blooming husbands lol!! X

I don't think you've ovulated yet. There are no 3 consecutive rises one after the other. Did you temp at the same time each morning? How long are your cycles?

Maybe you could try to input your temps in fertility friend and see what it says!x

Like @Kitana says, input your data into fertility friend.

I didn’t think there had to be 3 consecutive rises - but rather a temp shift and continued elevated temps after ovulation day. Day 16 temp is much higher and, although day 17 drops, it’s still higher than the other temps before day 16.

It will interesting to see what your temp is like tomorrow.
