Ok, it's official - practically nothing I own fits. Nevermind, it's all in a good cause :) (although everyone keeps asking am I sure I'm not further on than 6 weeks as everything seems to be happening very quickly - the weight gain, the blood pressure etc)

Am going to nip out tomorrow and pick up a few bits in the sales. My question is, should I just buy size 10 clothes, or do I start investing in maternity wear now? Sorry if that's a stupid question, it's my first pregnancy and I don't really know this stuff! Definitely need some new underwear whatever!

Now if I can only get my husband to stop calling me 'fatty'......

Either get size 10 maternity or just get a size 12 for the time being!
I'm sure you'll look gorge whatever you pick!

 x

Aw thanks babe!

I don't think I'm up to a 12 yet (although might not be long before I get there!) - it's my size 8 stuff that doesn't fit so I'd be buying 10s in normal clothes.

If you have to dress smart for work invest in a couple of things but I'd get thee to Primark for joggers and long sleeve tees in bigger sizes for now.

You'll be needing summer stuff for when you're a real biff so save the cash.

Do you have any friends with babies? I've received and passed on maternity clothes. Every time someone pops they add their bits to the bag and the collection gets bigger :)

Thanks Minxy! I do have some friends/relatives that have had babies (only a very few) but all were quite a lot bigger than me to start with so not sure anything would fit - plus we're trying not to tell too many people! (Sits wondering how to ask 'can I borrow some of your maternity wear' without actually telling the person I'm pregnant....  )

Think I'm just going to go to ASDA and buy some cheapy size 10 stuff I can wear for work (I have a pair of jeans which still fit comfortably - used to be my lounging around, needed a belt to hold them up jeans!) - that way if in another few weeks I change size again I won't have spent too much money.

My mum got me some lovely stuff from the M&S sale. Given my boobs have swollen to watermelon size I've gone for size 18 blouses as the 16's are very tight. It's a major nuisance as the rest of me top half is 12-14. As for trousers, I got a couple of pairs for work and a pair of jeans all in 16 which is a size bigger than normal to allow to a bit of breathing space. I've no idea when I'll need to move into this maternity gear but while it's reduced it saved a lot of money.

MIL has also suggested Primark but over here in Northern Ireland, they don't have as good a reputation as they do on the mainland hence I've only been in once in my short 30 years and that was to get bikinis as nowhere else had them. I have to admit to feeling dirty by the time I'd finished in there but if I can get an entire summer bloater wardrobe for under £100 it's a good idea.

Primark definitely takes some getting used to. But once you accept that you will collide with at least four chavvy teenagers and be run over by a pushchair (it apparently is compulsory for at least every other person to have one  ) you can just enjoy the fact that the clothes are absolutely dirt cheap.

Mybe I need to convince Andy into a trip to Birmingham tomorrow so we can go to Primarni......

It won't be long before YOU are that other person. And believe me, it's hard not to run over people when they walk in front of your wheels

Whereabouts in WM are you? Sorry if have asked you before

I know! Very excited about being able to mow people down with my own pushchair (wasn't complaining about people having them - they are totally within their rights, I am just very clumsy and always end up coliding with them  )

We're in Lichfield - so only about 20 mins from Birmingham

'Have pushchair will travel', they're great for getting through the Bullring

I avoid New St Primark like the plague, it's always like a horrendous jumble sale. Redditch or Merry Hell are better, but the other side from you :? I certainly wouldn't go tomorrow, Twinkula doesn't need the stress! It'll be MAD!

Lichfield's lovely, my sister is in Tamworth :)

Oh cool.

Yeah having thought about it I really dont fancy Brum tomorrow - might be a bit optimistic considering I've only been standing upright for the last two or so days!!!

ASDA at Tamworth will be bad enough (but we really do need food so will have to brave that!)

Totally off topic, well kinda... I now know where Merry Hill is! :D

I think leggings with long tops or short dresses look very cool and feel comfie, this is what I am trying to wear now as jeans are too tight and some of my tops are stretching around the middle! I think mine has more to do with all the christmas food I have scoffed rather than any baby weight just yet :? Although this is my 2nd so my tummy may be stretching earlier, who knows. Anyway, Babyblonde I'm sure you look lovely anyway - I wish I was still a size 10, it's been about 5 years since I was a 10. My wardrobe has clothes ranging from 10 to 14

Thanks Shezza - I just want to make it clear I'm not complaining about being a size 10! It's just funny that this time last year, after I lost loads of weight before my wedding (not intentionally, illness and stress!) I was a small size 6!!!! :rotfl:

Liking the long tops over leggings idea - I do wear a lot of dresses and tunics over trousers so perhaps if I get a couple more of those and invest in some leggings that will work...

Well i started as a size 10 but luckily i had a couple of pairs of size 12 trousers so im living in those at the moment. i'm popping into town later to pick up some maternity stuff while its in the sale, i really need some more long tops to cover my belly

The only thing you should really invest in is some clothing for the bottom half of your body. For the top half you can wear just about any top you've got around as they tend to stretch (unless they're blouses). I bought some good things at H&M that were marked down. Try there.

Thanks hun! It's definitely bottoms I need as opposed to tops (although could do with a few longer tops as a lot of mine are short and belly-showing!)

Am going to go through my wardrobe today and see what fits and what doesn't so I only buy what I need.

Sorry to jump in on your thread (again lol)
Does anyone have any ideas where is best to get plus size maternity stuff, i'm a 22/24ish normally and the range sucks a bit from what I've found, i'm just wondering if i've missed the good places. Although I am preying that the morning sickness helps me loose a bit more weight (its helping already lol)
xx
