Just wanted to check with you all what if anything have you decided to dress baby in for return home from hospital?
I have looked at coats and then at full body suits
Baby will be end of June so shouldn't be too cold but if it's late then don't want baby to get chilly also

Anyone got any good buys or ideas? X

Mine is due mid May and will likely be in a vest, sleepsuit and cardigan with a blanket over the car seat that can be removed if necessary.

I've just got a vest, baby grow (with feet), cotton hat and will take a blanket for over the car seat. I am considering a cardigan though as an extra layer, I just haven't seen any yet x

My LO was born July 2013. Was roasting so she just had vest, babygrow then a cellular blanket over her when she was in the car seat. X

I've packed a couple vests, a night gown, a sleepsuit, two dresses, and a blanket.

July baby so hopefully be warm out, but I have the added advantage of knowing the can be pulled up right by the door at the hospital, drive 5 mins down the road, then pull up right outside my front door.

Baby will be outside for a maximum of a minute, so I'm not too worried. Xx

I'm assuming you'll be getting in the car so you can't have baby in a coat for that part of the journey anyway. Like everyone says a blanket is best, you can put it over the straps once they're secured.

I know newborns need to be kept warm but it's dangerous for them to get too hot. I always preferred DD to be more on the cold side, at least she'd let you know if she wasn't happy that way!

QFT.

Something I was told on here with DS that has always stuck with me...

"If he's cold, he'll cry until you fix it. If he's hot, he'll sit and cook".

I've always had him on the cold side and it's never been a problem. Xx

Just echoing what the others have said, it's best to layer up with blankets in the car.

My son was born in march and it actually snowed the night we brought him home. We just had him in a vest and sleep suit, with hat and mittens and loads of blankets over him once he was strapped into the car seat. Our hospital let you drive right up to the door for picking up babies and the car was nicely toasty anyway too.

I'm taking her a beanie hat a little vest and then a sleep suit and a blanket for her car seat. I'm due end of June so it's possible to be warmer by that point. I always pack a little more just in case she's smaller than predicted and needs warming up. Best advice I got from my midwife is go with your temp and if your steaming hot then beat to not overdress baby and visa versa with coolness x

I would suggest a couple of light hats too in different sizes! My boy had a huge head and the 3 hats I had packed were all newborn so none fit him!
