Hi guys,

On Thursday morning at 3.10am I woke up with terrible pains in my stomach which I simply put down to Braxton Hicks and thought no more about about it but by 5.10am this pains were coming every 10-12mins for about 30-40 secs apart so decided to have a warm bath to see if this would ease the pain. It took it off slightly and baby was still moving so again thought great. Also on getting out of the bath sorry possibly TMI but had diarrohoa following by a yellowish discharge.

Got back to sleep at 6.00am approx then woke again at 7am still in slight pain with this tightenings... they seemed to go off for about 1hr and then restarted.

I called the matenity unit at 11.00am and explained what was happening including the bowel movement and discharge and was asked to go to hospital to be checked over.

Was monitored for almost 2 hours and given an internal which was sooooooo painful and then told that I was going to be admitted to hospital for 24 hours obs and given the steriod injection to help develop babies lungs but needed two injections 24 hours apart if baby didn't come or 12 hours apart if he did.

I saw the consultant who said that if I did go into labour they will not attempt to stop it and let the baby come which did shock me a little to be honest.

I over the past 24 hours have continued and still am getting these pains but glad to be home and I have just got to keep an eye on the situation if they get worse then need to return to the hospital as the midwife said "you have a prem baby onboard"!!! if my waters go also I m to return immediately or any of the usual stuff associated with labour symtoms.

This may seem a very unusual thing to ask but has anyones waters NOT broken but been admitted to hospital at approx 34 weeks had the steroid injection to cover babys lungs and then gone on full term?? or is it more probable to have baby early.

Sorry for being a pain in the backside but now totally freaked out!
Hope you all well
Take care

wow how scary!
im glad your home!
i've no experience of pre-term ctx or anything, but i'm hoping baby stays put for a while longer yet!

I had my son at 34 weeks honey but i really hope your little one stays put a bit longer for you :) glad to hear your home - that must've been really worrying  tis good you've had the steroids just in case   xxxx

I'm non the wiser as this is my first but just wanted to give you some of these

I've been waking up on and off all night as well with stomach pains but I can't feel any BH's. Babies been extra tight in there the last 4-5 days (there's barely a time I CAN'T feel a back or and elbow etc diggin in somewhere) and a lot of his movements are boardering on painful rather than just uncomfortable but I just figure this is what I'll have to put up with for the next 2 months

i went in to hospital at 34 weeks and had steroid injections
and was sent home as nothing happend then my baby was born at
37+4 but i was induced due too pre eclampsia, so there is no reason
why you wont get too term or even go over due!!!!!

How scary, glad everything is ok and your waters are still in tact

My neighbour had a very similar experience at 33 weeks and went on to be overdue... So I don't think it means anything

xx

Poor you, how scary

Glad you are out now and fingers crossed bubs decides to stay put for a while

Don't be afraid to go back and get checked out if you feel a bit worried about it hun... They'd prefer you to do that and it be nothing than for you to leave it, could you give them a call and just ask what they'd advise? They might want you in again to check you & baby over?

 Hope you're ok sweetie xx

I had pre-eclampsia at 33 weeks and had the steriod injections 12 hours apart in case they needed to deliver him straight away.
Everything settled down, then same pre-eclampsia at 38 weeks then again everything settled down and went into normal labour day before his due date and Charlie was delivered by emergency C-Section on his due date having done 20 hours labour and eclampsia developing.

Hi there,

Again back in Hospital as pains got worse... I just can't believe my luck I now have found out luckily that I positive for Strep B!!!! I am so upset at the moment and it means the minute I give birth my baby goes to SCBU for 48hours to be monitored :( .

I know I should be grateful that they have detected this as it can be very nasty.. but this will mean both of my children being admitted to SCBU and I feel somewhat cheated... I know that if i had prem birth it was a certainty but was hoping that I would get to 37+ to get some fighting chance of being able to be home quicker than before.

I am due to midwife tomorrow and consultant on Tuesday so alot more questions will be asked.

At this present moment in time I feel a complete failure as a mum-to-be :(

Well take care all... i will be popping on and off to see how you all doing.

Kathy, you are NOT a failure... Not at all.

Is it DEFINITE that baby will go straight to SCBU? Maybe your LO will be a lot better prepared than they are expecting and not need to go there?

I don't know hun, but I am pleased they diagnosed you and have given you an idea of what to expect.

Hun, your LO is in the best hands and you are too  xx

Awww hun you are NOT a failure in any sense of the word!!
