Hi,

So I’ve been trying to conceive for 5 years now! My periods have always been irregular and I can go for months, sometimes years without having them. I finally got referred to the fertility clinic in feb and had to have multiple blood tests which came back slightly low progesterone. I also had a hycosy which showed no issues. Doctors don’t know why but for some reason I don’t always ovulate (I think I’ve ovulated once or twice in the 5 years). I started my first round of clomid last month 50mg a day for 5 days, day 2-6 of my cycle, went for my day 21 blood test which found my progesterone levels low, so I’m going to have to double up to 100mg per day on my next cycle.

Basically because I’m so irregular I don’t know when to test for pregnancy. I don’t want to get a false negative from testing to early, but because my cycles are so irregular it makes it difficult to determine when I’m actually due. I also have no idea when to test for ovulation, the norm is about day 14 of cycle but I think i ovulated in day 25 the one time I did, not tested this month as didn’t know when to!

Has anyone who doesn’t have regular periods been on clomid before any how did it effect your cycles, did it make you regular? When’s best to test for ovulation and what’s the best testing kit to use? All I want is a little bundle of joy, it’s so frustrating! Any advice or help would be great!

I’ve never been in clomid but I did have irregular cycles, due to pcos.
I think personally I would get a large batch of ovulation predictor tests and use them daily. Start temping and get a fertility app on your phone to track - others will explain this better as I don’t track that way.
You should get an accurate pregnancy test 14 days after you ovulate. If you’re anything like us lot on here, you’ll probably start testing from 9 days after ovulation, but that’s not necessarily a good or healthy thing to do! We are just addicts x

You can can batches of ovulation tests and pregnancy tests on Amazon - both strips. They are cheap but accurate and so you can us them as often as you need.https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001G7P62S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0026RKBWM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have also seen books on correcting hormone imbalances with nutrition - don't know if it works. BMI can be a factor with hormone imbalance too, but I'm sure they'll covered that.

Thanks for the advice 😊 I decided to invest in the clear blue fertility monitor and it paid off! I’m now 5 weeks pregnant! 😊 clomid actually made my cycles regular (this was my 2nd round, but the first round I was on a too low dose so didn’t ovulate) so I was able to test on the first day of my ‘projected period’. It still doesn’t seem real, trying not to get to excited though until I’m 12 weeks! 😊

Thank you 😁 my first pregnancy so I just want to go baby shopping, restraining myself until I get to 12 weeks though, it’s already dragging! Xx
