It depends on the minister. Our wouldnt christen the LO of a couple who didnt attend and had no intention of, but another minister in the town did. xxx
I was wondering this as my oh is from Norwich but moved to Liverpool after we met on holiday but he wants the baby christened in Norwich not Liverpool x
some ministers view a christening as the child being welcomed into the church family, and therefore wont do it if your not a part of the congregation iykwim, but others are more relaxed. the only way to know for sure is to ask. xxx
We wanted to get our LO christened in a different town and when I called them and asked they said if you want to do this, you have to call your local parish and ask their permission and sometimes from both churches. She said its because they don't like to feel as though they are 'stealing' from another parish!! I called my local one and they were happy about it. If you do have to get permission sometimes a letter needs to be sent from your church to the other from the minister/vicar.
Hope this helps and your able to get your LO christened where you like. X
Ok thats great thankyou! I don't really have a valid reason other than not liking the look of the church so I think I'll prob just have to go with it. X
I have two local to my house I had to choose solely based on the time of the service (the one was 9am the other 1pm) guess which one I chose but I don't need to attend church or anything before I have harry christened and iwe get the church to ourselves which is nice x
