Anyone else doing one?

I really would like to do one this year for my little guys first Christmas & make it a family tradition for every year. Problem is I am lacking in ideas of what to put into the box for his age he is just over 8 months old & turns 9 months on the 30th.

So far I have some new Christmas pj's
A Mickey Mouse teddy (he adores Mickey so much so couldn't resist)
A small toy of some kind
Possibly a Christmas DVD but he doesn't sit long enough to watch just yet ;) lol
The night before Christmas Book & a few Mr Men Christmassy books which he loves

Then I am stuck for ideas from then on I want something that is fun but age & meaningful but also something religious as we attend church (he went 4 days after he was born!)

Also how are people decorTing their boxes? I got a storage box from IKEA as I was thinking I could use it again after to store all his many toys in but I want to make it look festive & eye catching for him rather than just a boring white box.

I got some Christmas finger puppets and have you seen the book 'santa comes to... ' (your local town) our box is similar. Still want to add couple of extras.

Maybe you could put in a religious candle you light every Xmas eve?

The idea above is nice.

A Christmas story?

We have a red sparkley box and have did one since Jackson's 1st Christmas.

I put in a few things:

Christmas eve PJs
Christmas teddy
Christmas DVD
Christmas Book
Christmas sweets/Wee chocolate buttons
Something Christmassy for the head, ie we have did antlers, santa hat, this year its an elf hat.

We get it out after dinner, so basically its night time and the next day itll be christmas which he will be getting loads of toys so we tend to keep it minimal.

This year, Im thinking of putting a personalized bauble in it. We already have a couple that we have put up as he has been too wee. So this will be going in and he can place it on the tree on Xmas eve. You could perhaps have some religious baubles to include in the box and hang each year, and maybe have a little biblical story to go with the bauble?

If you are doing something religious, you could perhaps each year give him some little nativity figures and then when baby is a bit older and gathered some figures you could set the nativity scene together?

Or perhaps a nice framed print (can be done at home easily enough) of some religious sentiments, versus?

We just use a glittery red sparkley box from Card Factory, its really nice and looks all Christmassy. You can get the personalized ones on like ebay, were its a little cardbox disposable box (or reusable if you keep it good) with some Xmas designs on.

Sorry about the big ass list, can you tell I love Xmas Eve Boxes?

We just have a few books - nativity book and night before Christmas, a dvd, pj's and chocolates. Box is cardboard covered in wrapping paper. Apart from the chocolates it's been the every year as this is the first yr he gets Christmas!)

We bought a box from a card shop too, it's got a Christmassy design on it but I was thinking of wrapping it with christmas wrapping paper and changing it every year.

Sounds lovely the things you have for it already. He won't know the difference so it's just a gesture really (a lovely one!). My lo is 2 and I'm putting Christmas pjs, the snowman dvd, a Christmassy book, Christmassy straw cup I got in clintons, some hot choc and choc coins. Maybe a wee christmas teddy. Haven't thought of toys for it, it's really just things to get cosy with before bed. Aaah I love Christmas eve! Xx

Yeah I wrap Jackson's.

I like him to think hes getting a treat having a present early

I was thinking of doing Me & OH one this year. I usually get pjs myself. But like a wee bath set, PJs, sweets and a movie for us.

I pop stuff for everyone in ours - although I use the same pj's as it seems silly to buy us some every year. Pop a movie in there (or download one) and some festive chocolates, I think one year I put a bottle of wine in too! xx

It's our first Christmas as a family and Hayden is only 6 months old so won't have a clue but we have done a family one. I'm going to keep the same things in each year until they are too old to use haha! We have our elf pjs, elf slippers. Our pjs say mummy elf and daddy elf on. We also have mum elf, dad elf and little elf mugs. (Not that he can use it yet). I've put a selection of Christmas books in, and Christmas DVDs. Each year as he gets old I will let him pick which one he wants to watch and which one to read. I've also put hot chocolate, baileys for us, marshmallows, letter off Santa, santas plate and milk jar. We also got the santas sleigh to Liverpool book :) it mentions our part of Liverpool so I think it will be exciting for him. I just wanted to start a tradition more than anything. I've put some pics on to show, not sure what size they are as its from the app and won't let me choose so I apologise if they are huge! We got our box from b and m and it's fab!

I got Christmas bedding yesterday.

I tend to get Christmas PJs every year, I must be the only one who yoyos so much that I always need a new set. Last Christmas I was a size 6. This Christmas a 10!

Most of the stuff I get for OH and I every year is the contents of a box, just not in a box. But I may make the effort this year.

Thank you everyone for your help!

I love that box is it from b&m? I really need a plate personalised with his name to leave out for Santa but my handwriting is poor!

Charlie where did you get those mugs? I love them, x

Tesco do paper plates to leave for Santa, will do until I get us a personalised one in a year or 2 x

Yeah box is from b and m. They are really good quality too!

Mugs are from home bargains Lucy :) xx

Just getting together the things for our Christmas Eve boxes do you all wrap the individual items in the box or just leave them as they are?

I've been a bit lazy this year - we have a few books so I've wrapped them together, wraps ds's pj's but not ours, will also just put food treats in and not wrap them. x
