I can't wait for Jacob's first Christmas, but I know if I'm not careful I will go way, way overboard with presents he won't remember. I guess a baby's first Christmas is more for the parents than the baby, anyway, but just to get some ideas, how old will your baby be/ was your baby for their first Christmas and what will you/ did you get for them? Mine will be four months. Any ideas of what I could get Jacob that will be useful and he will enjoy?

Im due Christmas eve so i have no idea if this will be babys first Christmas or not.
People keep saying to me, will you get him a Christmas present and i just think well everything in his life will be new so do i really need to buy some set things and give them the title as Christmas presents? i feel bad saying that to people but if he is here he'll only realistically be a few days old things will be so new to him anyway and obviously he's not going to know the different between a new teddy and a Christmas present teddy.
I dunno is that harsh and should i get him something? ooh i dont know either!!!

at 4 months id prob say a activity centre / jumperoo or something pratical like highchair as above

Dylan was 8 months old so was old enough to understand something was happening...

If he had been 4 months old i would of bought less....

maybe a first christmas teddy so when they are older they appreciate it..Although Dylan got a christmas dog from his visit to santa and i put it in his specail saving box as i didn't want him getting attaches and walking round with a christmas toy in june lol

Lovella was 1 day old on her first christmas and will be 12 months this christmas :)

Ryan was born Aug 24, so was 4 months and a day old.
I would say, don't go too overboard, because everyone else will..!! Good ideas tho, maybe hard board books, or little musical maracas from early learning, or anything 3 months +. But really, they're so spoilt by everyone else, don't make yourself poor to get christmas presents that he wont even remember :)

I am thinking about how he won't remember anything about it so something sentimental would be nice. I'm hoping my friend who used to make beautiful bears will make one for me, but in case she can't, I am on the hunt for the perfect one. I was thinking about the Rainforest Jumperoo because he likes his swing so much... Does anyone have it that can tell me if it's good? I love choosing gifts for people so I really hope I can practice self-control for Jacob!

Jaida will be 5 months so most of the toys I will be getting will be 6+ months.

So far I've got her....

Don't know what everybody else is getting, and not sure what else to get her from me.

Among (lots) of other things (most of which were silly presents which she didn't really need!), we bought DD this with her name on it that she can use year after year after year.

Valentine Xxx

Last Christmas Roxy was 3 months so she got 3-6 month clothes! Also got a couple of small bits but we already spent a fortune on the older girls and she didn't know any different! We let her sisters choose a present for her too, although I can't remember what it was! Some sort of rattly thing I think.

This year we have agreed to spend a bit more on therir stockings so they have lots of little bits and just get them one main pressie from us. They get some much from friends and fasmily anyway that it starts to lose all meaning for them.

Chloe was born a month early on the 18th December, so I didn't get her anything specific for her first Christmas. Molly got quite a bit from what I remember for her first but she was 10 months old so very aware.

I'm so excited for Christmas! Can't wait!

melissa was 6 months old for her first christmas and she got lots of presents, but tbh wasnt really that bothered about any of them! im very much looking forward to this year she'll be 18 months so it'll be completely different!

I'm waiting until nearer the time to decide what to buy Kathryn- it will probably be some clothes and then whichever toy she can't put down when we go to a friend's house!

oh, and she'll be almost 9 months old.

I got Angel this as she will be 8 months by then.

It was half price a couple of months ago.

I'm only getting her a doll to go with it.
I cannot afford anything else and she'll not know otherwise.

Austin was 9 months old for his first Christmas, we got him a stocking with the usual bits & pieces in, and a gorgeous (and expensive!) ride on dragon. This year I don't know if the baby will be born or not but I'm due 16th December so going on the assumption s/he will be a few days old.

We're planning to get a ball pool for the kids as a joint big present, obviously Austin will get more use out of it this year but it'll be something to go in their room. I'm doing a little stocking for the new baby with socks, a rattle & some bubbles - little bits that we'd probably get anyway so that baby's not left out.

I prefer to get 1 big present and a few little stocking bits rather than loads of stuff, we usually get relatives asking what they want so I save the smaller ideas (dvds etc) to suggest to them.

Edited to add clicky to the pool - it's a paddling pool too, I love it!

I'm asking her 2 nan's to go halves on a decent high chair for her. We're probably going to get her a lightweight buggy for popping to the shops. Other family members I'm going to say to get a voucher for Argos so we can put them together to get her a larger toy such as a jumperoo or something similar. I'll get a few stocking fillers for her also but we're not going mad on stuff.

I have the older version of the Jumperoo and it's fantastic. The rainforest one looks even better! I only paid £13 for ours though

Ryan will be 9 1/2 months at christmas so im gonna get him a stocking with a couple of cheapie toys or clothes in it and for his present ive got him a drum which is filled with musical instruments but there in the shapes of bee's or something lol anyway its really cool lol and im looking out for other toys i think he will like. ooooh and ive orderd a box with ryan written on it with inset puzzles inside!
