how do you do it??

I had kinda figured we'd just get mine from my bro - his youngest is almost two so they are thinking about beds.

But my in laws have just offered to buy us one - we just have to pick it - but i havent a bloody clue where to start.

Didn't want to read and run but can't really offer any help! I got mine given to me of my cousin x

Why don't you have the one off your bro and ask the in laws if they would mind putting the money towards another item like the next car seat? Seems a shame to turn a cot down if it's available - reduce, reuse, recycle and all that!! Obviously though you may want a new one, or they might only want to gift a cot and nothing else. x

2 reasons actually - my nephew isnt 2 till august, and the plan was he'd get new bed for his birthday.

Also, my inlaws are quite closed - this is the first time they've come out and said "we want to buy her...." and i dont feel open enough to say actually my family have sorted that - already had to do that with the high chair - they got given one from a friend.

xxx

Hmmm, decide if you want cot bed (so cot that turns into toddler bed) or cot that stays cot but has drop side. Think cot beds are more popular these days.

Then decide on the style of wood? then if you have a rough idea of budget try EVERYWHERE lol (argos, mamas and papas, kiddicare, kiddisave) there's lots of nice ones around but tbh for me, a cot is a cot. :) Id worry more about them having a decent sprung breathable mattress than the cot being the nicest looking cot with a shoddy mattress. xxx

I was just going to say what jukes said. I'd be more bothered about investing in a good mattress rather than the style of the cot especially of you buy a cot bed

Babies r us do some good mattresses and they're quite often in the sale

we got a cotbed cos figured it would save money instead of having to get a cot and a toddler bed. Would recommend getting a cot or cotbed that lets you adjust the height of the base so it's easier to get them in and out when lo is small

We got a cheap one from kiddicare, every time I lean over the edge of it it creaks o_O. I think they all look the same, the one good thing I like about my one is it's bars all around including the top and bottom so L gets a good look around.

As someone else is paying you could buy a nice cot bed!

We have a cotbed and it's from mamma & pappas. It's very nice, and remember you have together the mattress as well. And I found it was hat which cost the most for a good one.

I have a gorgeous but expensive boori cot bed. I wanted one with an adjustable base and a drop side. It is beautiful! Think it was from John Lewis.
