When I had my first lot of blood tests with midwife, the results came back that I had never had chickenpox and I have no immunity to it. So the midwife told me to stay well clear of anyone with the pox and don't be in a room with them more than 15mins.

The last week of May we are going down south and we were going to call in for one night at my friends house. Thing is she has 2 year old twins who both have a strain of chickenpox just now. I know its a while yet and it might have gone by then, but I know people can carry it without realising and I worry what if she or her husband has it by then without knowing and pass it on to me.

What would you do? would you still visit them? I'm worried if there is the slightest risk of me catching it and harming bean then I would rather not. Thanks xx

My midwife mentioned an injection that i could have if i was in a room with someone with spots for longer than 15 mins, might be worth ringing your midwife and asking if this is available x x

I'd say to them about it. Ask if they've had it or not cos u are worried that they could be in the incubation period xx

Thanks girls, my next midwife appt is the start of May so will ask her about the vaccine, not sure I would want that though as it will probably be a live vaccine and thats something I could do without. They (the parents) haven't had it yet, I was speaking to them the other day (before they knew I pregnant) and they were saying it can hang round for 3/4 weeks before they know if they have it or not.

I think if I was in any doubt or any way unsure I'd give it a miss.....better safe than sorry!!
