Hi, not our turn again got af today painful too :( :( Was so convinced I was pregnant have never had all those symptoms/feelings before. Lots of tears now time to think ahead again, would like more info on charting ie what sort of thermometer do you use, what should temps be and what and when do you expect changes.
complete newbie so need help on it all. Can you make the chart or print them from somewhere? Any books I should read too that would help?
Also will book to see dr on mon as after 2 yrs ttc think we should be getting referred by now and if so who to gyne or ivf dont know what usual procedure is?

Sorry the witch got you hun

I don't bother charting as my sleep patterns are too irregular but you can get a basal body thermometer from any pharmacist. There's a good website where you can upload all your info and it gives you graphs of the month's chart ~ it's called Fertility Friend and loads of ladies on here use it.

As for books, I read Fertility and Conception by Dr Karen Trewinnard and that was very helpful in telling me the ins and outs of what's going on with my body.

I'd start the ball rolling with your GP. We'd been trying for 20months before I got my bfp but unfortunately it didn't work out for us. We'd gone to have tests done as nothing had been happening. She firstly took a 21 day cycle blood test to check to see I did actually ovulate (which thankfully I do!) but i didn't get any further as we didn't need to in the end. It wasn't until I started charting and doing the ovulation kits that we finally managed to get pregnant!! I'm sure, because I knew relatively sod all about my cycles before coming on here, that we were doing it at the wrong time the majority of the time we bd'd.

Good luck hun

I'd recommend fertility friend as well. It makes it very easy to chart all your symptoms, temperatures and cycle lengths without having to worry about actually drawing graphs or anything yourself. They do a free membership and a paid VIP one. I am thinking of upgrading next cycle if AF turns up...

good luck hon

Sorry the witch got you

I use this sort of thermometer for temping http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DIGITAL-BASAL-BOD ... 240%3A1318 I will let someone else explain about temping and that as I am useless at explaining it for some reason

There is a fab book called 'Taking Charge Of Your Fertility' by Toni Weschler' I recommend it to anyone TTC

When I got referred I got referred to a fertility specialist. I had been ttc for just under a year but my cycles was really really long and irregular. Before my dr would refer us he did some blood tests and my DH had to do a sperm test. When I first went to the specialist the first appointment was really just taking about my cycles, more blood tests and I had to have a sample from down below taken to check for infections etc. The bloods came back as looking like I have pcos so I had to have a scan and they also did a hsg to look at my tubes. I am now waiting to go back in Feb and I think I will be put on to clomid as I do not think I am ovulating. It does sound scary but it is not really and if it helps me get a sticky bfp then even better.

I really really hope you get some answers and a bfp soon  I have been ttc for just under 2 years so sort of know how you feel

Good Luck

Hi ladies, thanks for the info and good wishes will have a look at fertility friend and check out the books. We had tests early 08 with dr, I had 2 of 3 ovulation blood tests as tried kits and never got a pos both bloods came back good and dr really positive he said the 2 I did were fab and no need to do 3rd. Also had internal and swabs to check for anything that end and all ok.

Hubby had sperm count tests 1 crap 1 perfect dr said 1st prob got to hosp to slow ( we got stuck in traffic!!) and maybe got to cold ( not in pocket in handbag !!) dr said we sholud go on the good result no reason why we shouldnt get a baby!
Felt quite positive with all this good stuff but here we are a yr on from results and 2yrs in total. I personally would have liked best of 3 but dr said not needed :wall:

Anyway think we need to learn a bit more about ovulation days and best times to bonk, have always thought best time is day 14, was never sure of day 1 as always spot 2-3 days before full flow but a nice lady has told me count full flow as day 1. Also as much as I would love to bonk every day from day 12 often myself or hubby either not both in mood or too tired so would be better if we knew which days best and make the effort on 2 or 3 days rather than me thinking we have to have week long session! ( very unrealistic even for hottest of couples I think!!) :rotfl:

i am a VIP member of FF and find it really useful but its not for everyone so if you decide to do your own at home i have a blank chart you can have. Its for your temp and cervical mucus. just send me your address through PM. :D

Hi, thanks I am going to the dr tomorrow to see what he has to say, had a look on fertility friend and joined but not sure if it was right one is it the american one or is there a uk one ? It is sending me a lesson a day by e-mail is this correct?
Also didnt seem simple to use bit of a techno phobe not long been e-mailing etc so all bit confusing maybe just being bit dim and blonde today due to af and hubby and I dissapointed.
Didnt think it would affect hubby as bad as me but he is so down in dumps bless him suppose very lucky to have supportive and sensitive hubby, glad we can talk as well have always been worried ttc would affect our relationship but as yet it hasn't concerned that if we go down charting and or ivf route that it may do, suppose we just have to keep talking and being honest and not let emotions build up to much.

Hi and welcome! I think you're right to think about charting, especially if you've only been bd-ing around day 14 because it's only a myth that that's when every woman ovulates.

I recommend that you come have a look at the 'chartstalkers' thread and you can have a mosey at all of our charts; we're all very willing to answer any questions you might have as well. :D
