Hey ladies,

I have started using a contraceptive pill for the first time in my life (never got round to it pre-baby), and I have been prescribed cerazette. I was originally prescribed it months ago but figured there was no point taking it until husband and I started being intimate again, however we haven't even had a chance to continue yet!
Started taking at start of period as instructed, I'm now on day 16 and I've bled every day but 2. And the current bleeding is way heavier than my actual period, plus I've got crippling "period" pain.
Is that normal? Pardon my ignorance but like I say I was prescribed it months ago and can't remember what the dr said ro expect!

TIA

xx

I've been on cerazette before both my pregnancies and am back on it. While I've never had any problems in terms of period pain in between periods, I have had almost continuous bleeding with it. Before I was pregnant with my first, I found that cerazette just completely stopped my periods (and no bleeding any other time either). After going back on it after my daughter was born, I found that I bled almost continuously for 3 months before it settled back to no bleeding at all! This time, I've been back on it since just before Christmas and have probably had 5 days (non-consecutive) where I've not bled. I'm hoping that eventually I'll have no bleeding at all.

Hope your bleeding stops soon - perhaps ask your GP or nurse about the cramping? xx

Hi there, I used to be on it, but found the continual bleeding very annoying so came off, but apparently if you stick with it the bleeding will stop and basically go away completely, I never made it to that point! I waited months! xx

looks like bleeding with that pill is quite common. Ive had to stop taking it because the bleeding was driving me crazy no point taking it if me and hubs cant even do anything lol Its strange though as i took it after my first two and didnt have this problem x

Takes months for it to adjust as its like a continues pill. I can't stand progesterone and need the synthetic one that's in yasmin. I stopped it on the second or third strip because I felt like I was bleeding to friggin death. It depends on if you're breast feeding what you can use or what not.

I've stopped taking it for same reason!

I gave up, fed up with all the bleeding and horrendous mood swings. The bleeding was just starting to stop and now a couple of days after finishing, its kicked off again! Awesome!

I know when the bleeding stops it must be really handy, but I always felt it was messing with my body too much, it freaked me out!

TBH, it's starting to annoy me this time round now... still bleeding on and off and now over a month since I started taking it. Stupid pill. It was so good when I first went on it as it basically just stopped my periods immediately and I loved that! Not sure how long I have to wait this time for the bleeding to stop.

I had the same issue before I had my lo I had no problems and had taken it for years, I went back on it after the birth of my lo and I was bleeding for nearly 2 months spotting everyday, I came off it and got pregnant again hehe
