I was at our local Tesco metro and I saw this old lady, looks like butter wouldnt melt... stuff 4 packs of bacon into her bag  I told a member of staff who got the security lady. She followed the theif around the shop for a bit. Then about 5 minutes later I saw the security lady come walk in off the street with a basket full of meat (the theifs basket) but she must have let the theif lady go or something, I cant see her having run off to be honest

Im a bit annoyed because nobody bothered to say thank you or even let me off my shopping bill :shakehead:  There was easily £40 worth of meat in her basket

:( Aww I can't help feel sorry for her, maybe she couldn't afford to buy the food on her pension or something. I don't think I could have told on her. Mug aren't I

I don't blame her to be honest, not the amount things have gone up this year its terrible. Not that I personally would resort to stealing though. They could have thanked you though!

Now if that was a teenager or even me!, the police would of been called...and they would be in the cop shop, why should the old dear get away with it? :x

Now I feel awful for telling :(

Don't you dare! You did the right thing, Theft is theft. Why does one ole lady need 4 packs of bacon!?

They should of thanked you and gave you some kind of voucher !!!
I couldnt of said anything but i just stay oout of things though , i think it is unfair though as it is true if it was a younger person they would of gotten alot more attention about it .
dont feel bad hun you did do the right thing :)

Don't feel bad, I am a mug for not wanting to tell  I'm a sucker for a sob story and my mind makes up all these sad explanations for things, she was prob like the Nan from Catherine Tate, shoplifters, What a fucking liberty!! :rotfl:

Aww i dont think i could have told on her either, you bloody meanie lol she was probably embarassed to steal and was going to do it this once, and freeze the meat to last the year or sumat....
or she could be like the criminal mastermind of a group of pensioners who do it for kicks !!!
Im not sure how id feel about buying stolen OAP bacon either

lol nah honestly i think you'll never know why she was doing it might have been a sob story, might have been one of those hard nosed old evilll grannies !!!

I'd have told, she shouldn't have been stealing it in the first place :x Dosen't matter that she's old, she still stole something and she shouldn't have :talkhand:

But what if she hadnt eaten for a week because her pension was all going to heating up until this week, and she'd given her ladt £5 as a birthday present to her grandaughter, and she was stealing meat because shes had her electricity cut off and so shes only got her gas cooker to use ??

Obviously unlikely to say the least but im a complete sucker, wouldnt u feel a bit sorry for her, i cant imagine a pensioner stealing without a reason

we will all be old one day. She might be a bit 'wandered'. Some old people have no one to look after them and rely on home helps. Who know what they do when no one is looking after them.

I wouldnt have told in somewhere like Tesco. A small independant shop yes but Tesco are big enough to look after themselves,

you did the right thing though

 So it's ok for her to steal it then just because she is old???

Stealing is never ok in my opinion

gosh i found myself feeling sorry for her too. :( Its not like she was stealing a mobile phone for drugs. She was proberbly hungry :(
But you did what i probably would have done in that situation and squealed on her.

Did you like the pun? Bacon/squealed  :rotfl:

i must stop laughing at my own jokes

 Also alot of them know exactly what they are doing

Yes this woman might not have been 'quite with it' but she might have known exactly what she was doing

Yep, stealing forty quids worth of bacon is the act of a sane person.

As I said, we will all be old one day.

thats so right . :(

aww you cant  at an old lady stealing bacon, i have visions of her being put in the stocks or something !!
Got it squealing/bacon, :rotfl: :cheer:

I think stealings ok sometimes, you know when you read about those obscure cases in far away countries where a womans stolen a loaf of bread to feed her family because her husbands starving her, and so they chop of her hand, i mean if you were that stall holder you wouldnt tell would you ?
Or Robin Hood, i distinctly remember him handing over some serious mullah to that little old rabbit lady with all the little bunnies, that was OK stealing wasnt it ?

Although you DID do the right thing!!!
Telling isn't something I could do, I always think that someday that could be me, you never know what the future brings and no stealing isn't prohibitted but it was food and not a TV to sell on.
