Can you refuse induction?

A friend who is now training to be a mw, refused induction with her 3rd, she went to almost 43 weeks and was monitored daily to ensure the health of her and her lo. she went into labour naturally and all they said about her placenta was that it was huge, nothing about it having deteriorated.

SIL had her induction booked for a Wednesday afternoon, baby kept her waiting until the morning of the induction to turn up.

My hospital doesn't induce until 42 weeks, but I heard MWs offer a sweep before this in the hope of getting things started.

I really really don't want to be induced, I'm terrified of it. As long as bubs and the placenta are healthy I'll refuse. I'm 99.9% certain they have my due date incorrect by a week anyway (they've put me a week further along than is physically possible) so even if bubs was to go to 42 weeks according to their dates, he'd still only be a week overdue by the dates I think are correct.
