Children's French books? I have an app on my phone that teaches the French and English names of animals and everyday objects and DS is picking them up so fast I want to look at teaching him a bit more. I speak a bit of basic French but just wondered if anyone knows of any good French books?

Hmm I'm a teacher and although I don't teach french I know that those that do, don't buy learning books as such but buy actual french kids story books but for a younger age? You could buy really basic so that you know what they are ? You'll prob end up learning together but that would be great because you can't teach him to be fluent and leave you behind lol!

Maybe you could try ebay ? xx

That's a lovely idea actually xx I have started talking to him about things we see outside in French too so I suppose I could just integrate the French with what we're doing xx thanks for replying hon

That site is brilliant and has his favourite two books!! Think we have a winner!!!

My sister started with baby books in French and German and both my nephews, 11 and 6, are almost as fluent as their mum. The oldest has just started Mandarin lol. Personally I can only just speak English most of the time

Glad to be able to help! It doesn't look crazy money either! If his birthday or anything is coming up, ask people for money for books!

you could incorporate into colours too so when your painting teach english and french etc?

And try talking to him in french when you can? Bilingual kids can be taught completely one language at home and go into school and be taught a totally different language so it won't do him any harm! I love the idea of teaching kids different languages although for me I would like to teach spanish as we would probably use it more xx

Aw that's brilliant! I'd love my children to be bilingual! Though I'd have to seriously brush up on my French too!!

I imagine if your teaching him you'll learn too though so you can get fluent together? xx

My lo has about six of these elmer books in italian and english he loves them! They do all diff languages im sure they must have them in french too!
Forgot to add, whats good is that its both languages in one book (the same story) lo now understands for example lion in english, and then leone in italian... That way tou can read it once in english then go back and read the same story in french iykwim!
