Following on from the other posts about names, do you/will you call friends Auntie/Uncle when talking to your LOs? I ask because my family never have but DH's family do and for some reason it really bugs me! As far as I am concerned the only people that Ella will call Auntie/Uncle are my SIL and BIL and our Aunties and Uncles (her great Aunties and Uncles).

Am I in the minority?

we have some very close friends that seren calls aunty/uncle. Personal preference I guess :D

All my friends are auntie or uncles to Arianna.... well all my really good friends :)

My OH tried it with his friends who i hate and i told him to Never EVER say it again!!!

I prefer her actual Aunties and 1 Uncle to be called it and that's it. Long term boyfriends get called it, like OH's sister lives with a fella and sometimes he gets called uncle but very rare as i aint keen.

Braydon has my sister and My auntie as auntie and my uncle as an uncle then
he has chris's sisters who will be his aunties in 10 months as aunties
and my sisters boyfriend as an uncle -been together 2 yrs now
and then he has by best mate as an auntie :D

Well my LO only has one official Aunt and Uncle so my close friends and workmates tend to get called aunties as well. Not in the official sense but she will grow up knowing they are people special to me that she can trust. Especially my best friend - she'd be godmother if we were having her christened but we're not. It was the same for me growing up. I have "aunts" and "cousins" I've grown up with and love like they were members of my family but it never detracted from my "real" aunt and uncle.

I think it might be different if we had a large close family but we don't.

Well DD godmother is called Auntie as she will be around quite a bit while dd is growing up but no one else apart from her real ones. I dont mind though. :D

we call one of OH's friends uncle in front of jayla. they are a close friend of the family.

Thea calls both sets of her godparents auntie and uncle and my best friend auntie Catherine.

jam has his aunty jojo (my lil sis) and auntys lisa and sarah who are my best mates from school

Yes Dan does :D
We have a few very very close friends who are not family but mean as much to us both. We want Dan to think of them as family, as to us they are.

A few very close friends...well OH's cousins are called Aunty and Uncle...thats about it.

Bugs me when people you don't like decided they are a relation to your child...

example...:

The day I gave birth to Aaliyah, I had a not so nice labour and it was exhausting so we just slept from morning til night. Nobody woke us up or anything so by the time i'd woken up to change Aaliyah's nappy she was covered in meconium. As most of us know, labour wards are boiling so I stripped her off to wash her down. A member of staff rushes up to me shouting ''WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING? TAKE IT THIS IS YOUR FIRST CHILD? SHE WILL FREEZE!'' ''Awwww come here to Aunty Christine''     ''YOU FOOKING WHAT...!???!?!?!?!''

I'd never met the woman before in my life!

Bitch!

Yes my close friends are called Aunties&uncles, so are my cousins and my proper aunts&uncles! I was brought up the same, I have aunties who aren't my mums sisters. It didn't do me any harm  Don't see how it could really!

I wouldn't mind so much if it was our close friends, but my MIL calls her friends Auntie .. when talking to Ella and that really bugs me as I don't even know them - DH may have called them Auntie, but Ella has never even met most of them! We would probably have called our mates Uncle (most are blokes) but my brother died last year and it feels weird to call other people Uncle as he would have been her only real Uncle. Maybe that is why it bothers me.

I have two very close friends who are auntie and uncle and I think it's nice, they are like a brother and sister to me and if it wasn't for them kids would have no aunties or uncles as my bro takes no interest at all!!! :(
