Hi ladies, i had a planned c section over two weeks ago & felt i was recovering well & getting relatively back to normal. However i think ive hurt myself last night :( i was lying on the sofa holding lo & got up awkwardly, i kinda forgot myself & just sat up. I could feel a pain move across my scar from left to right & just didnt feel right afterwards, i knew i hurt myself. Today has been achey but tonight its got worse with a pain on my right side. Also been feeling super tired & headachey for past couple days. My scar looks ok i think, doesnt look infected but im worried about how it is internally. Is it normal to feel new pains at this stage, especially after a pain free period?? So paranoid about it now. Would appreciate any advice or opinions xx

Having had 4 c sections I know it is common to have pain for several weeks later. Because it is such a routine operation now it's easy to forget that it is actually major abdominal surgery and we've got to allow plenty of time to recover, and I mean a few months at least. Usually pain means we are simply doing to much and its a warning to take a step back and put our feet up. I doubt you have an infection because after suffering one myself I remember the wound smelt awful and it was very weepy/gunky.

Every time you get up, sit down, bend, lie down, cough, yawn, laugh (you get the idea lol) hold your scar nice and tight and try not to do anything fast or jerky.

2 weeks is very little time and the best advice I can give you is to park yourself on the sofa or in bed and just do what you have to for bubs, let your OH/friends/family do everything else.

Of course though if you are worried at all then a trip to the doctors will put your mind at ease but I'm pretty sure you'll be told to go home, take co codamol or some other pain relief and do as little as possible.

Hope you feel better soon xxx
