Just because you are struggling to give birth vaginally doesn't mean that you'll have a c section.
In most cases they will give you an assisted delivery with either ventouse or forceps. C sections are always the last option
I ended up having a forceps delivery as after 4 hours of pushing I was struggling to deliver babies head as it kept retracting up the birth canal. I was given an episiotomy to assist also with the delivery as I had a large baby
I had a c-section cos Henry's head was too high and big to fit through. I only dilated to 4cm cos his head was so high there was no pressure on my cervix. I'd been in labour for 4 days before they decided he wouldn't fit through. He didn't engage at any point in my pregnancy either.
They will use a ventouse and forceps before considering a section, I pushed for over 4 hrs with my first, ventouse didn't work so I was cut twice and she was delivered by forceps . They did prep my for a section in case she got distressed
