brown discharge

Hey ladies!

This is TMI (as are most things on pregnancy forums I suppose) but I am just about 5 weeks pregnant and today after a BM (I have been constipated so had to strain, which is just lovely) I noticed some brown discharge when I wiped. it was definitely not from "behind" (I wiped a second time to make sure) and I absolutely panicked. The advice nurse wasn't terribly concerned, but she also wasn't terribly helpful either...

I do remember this happening to me last pregnancy and everything was ok but it feels like I dodged a bullet last time and this time I won't be so lucky. I am just terrified of losing this baby.

There's been no more on the toilet paper since then, and I am having cramping but it's the same mild stretching cramping that I have been having for the last couple weeks so nothing new there.

Reassure me?

I'm still getting it now from my bleed this morning. Nurse told me it happens to roughly 50% of women and not to worry unless it's heavy or overly crampy. Even with seeing my bean today I'm terrified!!

Ugh god I struggle SO MUCH with the anxiety of the first trimester. I don’t know if there’s any way I could actually relax. And seeing blood is the worst! And then you hear “brown blood is old blood” like that should be reassuring, but then it’s like ok, old blood from what? At one point it was new! So was it bad then but not now? Ugh!!!

I had it and was told all normal by my doctor. They said it was implantation bleeding which I didn’t realise you could still get at about 5 weeks. It went away x

It’s turned to red bleeding overnight Not looking good.

Fx for you. But if it's just been after a bowel movement chances are you've irritated your cervix, even if its turned red. Happened to me before xx

I had brown, pink and red blood with dd, and aftrr my history was just like another mc. But it wasnt. The hospital said its probably just implantation or breakthro bleed where your period shphld have been. I had it around the same time as you 5 weeks. Hope all is well fx for a sticky baby x

I wish so much it had been that, PB - but unfortunately it was a miscarriage
