Already tried to write this once, got near the end and pressed the wrong button and it disappeared lol, so here goes again
I woke up at 2.30am on Weds 12.9.12, after a restless couple of hours, and realised I was having mild cramps. I woke my OH and told him. Got back in bed for a cuddle as I was freezing, but soon realised that I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. So I got my OH to put my tens machine on for me, went downstairs and bounced on my birthing ball, had some weetabix and started drinking as much as possible, whilst playing games online.
At 6.30ish I rang my mum to tell her what was happening and asked her to come round as my OH was going to work at 7.15. The pains got stronger, more regular and painful, so about 9.30 I rang my OH to come home. He was only working locally so was home in 10 minutes. He started to fill my birthing pool. At this point I kept feeling faint after each contraction, so I went upstairs and tried to lie down inbetween. All of a sudden the contractions were coming every 1 and a half to 2 and half minutes and lasting over a minute and they were so painful!! My mum suggested I ring the hospital. So my OH rang them, they said to go and get checked but if I wasn't in established labour I'd have to go home.
My OH rushed to put everything in the car, I needed a wee so went to the loo and felt like I needed a poo (sorry tmi) so I strained to go but it wasn't a poo I needed, it felt strange, but I knew that it was baby coming and I needed to push!!
We raced to the hospital, left the car outside the main entrance and quickly made our way to triage.
The midwives there were chatting and sorting out another lady, they then asked my name and I told them and said I need to push! At first I don't think they believed me, but then they were soon ushered another lady out of a room and taking me in. I got on the bed and they checked my bp and baby's hb, all fine. She then examined and told me not to push, but I said I can't help it! She said there was still a tiny bit of cervix so she pushed that out of the way and told me to push with the next pain!!!
We were so shocked!! We clung to each other for dear life while I pushed, then 10 minutes later Brooke was born
then with in a few minutes the placenta was delivered too.
We were so shocked that I had been ready to push and it all happened so quickly! For the next few hours we kept saying to each other I can't believe it!!
I rang my Mum, who was expecting me to say they were sending me home, so when I told her that the baby was here, she couldn't believe it either lol.
They then transferred me to the delivery, where they stitched me up as I had to have an episiotomy as baby's head was a a funny angle. I tried to feed Brooke, but she wasn't having any of it, so decided to have a shower, but she woke up and then wanted to feed, so fed her for about an hour and a half. After I had a lovely shower, which was so nice, as last time I had an epidural so wasn't able to straight away.
We had to stay in for the night as she pooed on her way out, so we were finally transferred to the ward.
I'm still in slight shock to this day that it was so quick in the end and sometimes find it hard to believe I've had a baby lol. I feel great, except for the usual tiredness.
Brooke is so beautiful and we are blessed to have another gorgeous little girl. We love her so much
Sorry if my story was abit drawn out lol, I just wanted to get in as much detail as possible.
Thank you all for your support and messages x x
