Just back from 31 week mw appt and the little monkey is breech!

Mw said that him turning at this stage of pg has caused some women to be physically sick and it's gotten me so worried.

Have any of you been breech at 31 weeks or thereabouts, and baby has turned? He has 5 weeks to go head down or I'm opting for an elective. Very much hope he does turn as I'd love another waer birth but I'm worried about how it will feel and how painful it would be for him to turn at this stage and later.

Feel so ungrateful for being so upset over this but it's hit me really hard.

Hi Kumber,

I'm exactly the same as you, my little one has been breech since week 16 scan and refusing to turn, her head is lodged under my rib ( excruciating!!) I have an appt mid July if she hasn't turned to discuss options , c section etc....

My friends baby turned at 35 weeks and my sisters at 36 weeks, so loads of time... I was told they can turn right up until the end. They've said it feels like a somersault in your tummy as if on a roller coaster , but not painful at all. My friend felt a bit sick for the morning and that was it.

I have no personal experience of turning obv as in same position but them telling me that put my mind at rest quite alot. Hope your ok xxx

That's really reassuring Jess, thank you. I think her saying about some women throwing up has ot the fear of god into me. Can't stop worrying about me being on my own wih ds and throwing up all over the living room and then the cats trying to eat it, him trying to get to it. So melodramatic but I can't shake it!

My LO was breech all through pregnancy. I did everything to get her to turn... Bouncing on ball, crouching on floor erc but it didn't work. We opted for a section as I didn't fancy have consultants try to turn her. Hoping this one is the right way up as I'm hoping for a vbac this time x

Mine was transverse throughout and turned at 35 weeks. There is still time!

Can I ask what it felt like when she turned please hun?

My baby was breech at 31 week appointment and by my 34 week appointment she had turned and at 35 weeks she is still head down. I didnt actually feel her change position as such but i did have one evening of lots and lots of movement and reckon she prob turned then. xx

This baby was breech until 34 weeks and then turned x

Just to add that my freind had the turning procedure at 38 weeks I think and it didn't work but as a serial section mum most hosps will also scan with portable scanner on the morning of a section and if baby has done a ladt minute turn head down they usually send you home. Im not meaning to add to your thoughts but I think a change of mindset at last min could be quite a shock so best to be aware it could be an option, hopefully baby will decide well before then. Ive only beem breach once till the end , but was being sectioned anyway for diff reasons

I felt lots of movement one evening and wondered if he had turned, then when I stood up in the morning and looked in the mirror my bump had totally changed shape! There may be more of a shape change from transverse to head down, than from breech to head down though? I suddenly had baby above my belly button where previously it was totally empty!

Thanks ladies, this is all so reassuring!

This makes me feel so much better!

I heard that they scan on the morning of which I think is a good thing. I'd always opt to go naturally if I could, simply for the recovery time!

Great tip about bump shape, thanks! Bump has dropped so I'm hoping he wriggles back up and puts his arse in the air!

I'm breech atm!was breech with my son untill 34/36 weeks - one of the 2 think it was 36 weeks!

Don't worry - they won't turn the baby this early - plenty of things you can do to help turn naturally x

Mine is also breech. It turned from head down to breech at around 30 weeks. It felt like a big swoosh, no pain or sickness though, just the weirdest feeling. Haven't felt another swoosh but have had increased movements so hoping by 36 weeks baba will have turned naturally x

I love you lot, I feel like such a wally for overreacting! He was head down 3 weeks ago and I don't recall feeling a big movement that was him turning so I'm hoping if I didn't feel him going one way, I might not feel him go the other way either!

Have just posted a similar thread before reading this one - just found out that mine is transverse at 31 weeks and same as you, even though I know there is plenty of time I'm still really worried as I think it's been in this position throughout and I would be really upset to have to have an elective C section -sounds like there is lots of time for them to do their business though so fingers crossed they get a wriggle on! xx

Fingers crossed indeed Becky! I've been so emotional with it this week, however he was lying on Thursday was absolute agony and I'm now bruised internally on the base of my right ribs. I got that swooshing feeling yesterday and since then all my movements have been to the right. I'm hoping he's at least gone transverse so we're halfway there!

Have you tried some of the suggestions on http://spinningbabies.com website? It does work for some ladies as does Moxibustion (Google it!). One of my friends tried doing handstands in the swimming pool and that worked for her! I went for an ECV (twice) but was glad I tried everything. Don't know if they still let you do this but when I went into labour ay 37.5 weeks my baby was breech and I delivered him naturally. I don't think that they will induce a breech baby do third time round I had an elective section. Babies can just turn on their own too. You've still got a good few weeks for something to happen so try not to worry. Good luck! xxx

My last baby was breech up to 36 weeks! the mw kept saying I'm sure her head is up here and I was too (have had 2 babies before who were head down!) so she booked a presentation scan for the next day - sure enough over night I felt and almighty movement and she turned! so I turned up to the scan knowing she had moved as the big hard ball under my ribs had turned into feet - the scan confirmed she was infact now head down! lol

She turned a further 2 times before I went into labour at 39+6 :) she was 7lb9oz

Thanks ladies :) I've gotten to the point where I'm ok if he doesn't turn, I'd just like to know where I stand with it all. It's the not knowing that's frustrating me. He's still firmly head up and I think feet down as I keep getting something small shoved into my bladder. I'm a massive believer in babies doing what they want in there so I'm just leaving him to it and if he turns, all good, if not then hey ho.
