I would lay on the bed with bubs in the middle topless and position yourself comfortble and just let bubs feed as and when , roll over to the other side now and again so bubs uses both boobs you should get quite a nice rest that way too. It will get better xx

Only in tri 2 but have breastfed my first two babies. I agree with katey123. I co slept with both of them and did exactly as katey123 said. And with my second I actually introduced a dummy as my first did use me as her dummy which with being pregnant with second was exhausting!! I was quite adamant I wouldn't use a dummy with first but now will probably use one again with our third. Personal choice of course. Also they go through growth spurts etc and feed more to increase what you produce. Do you have a local breastfeeding support group? They are an awesome form of support. Good luck it does get easier xxxx

Thanks guys, I probabyl did post this in the wrong section. Right now what I Am doing is have OH feed breastmilk out of bottle 1 feed a night. The other 11 feeds are from me so he doesn't seem to have a problem with confusion, makes me nervous but it ahs helped a little bit, I worry about co-sleeping as OH is also in bed whenever he kicks off as it's usally 10-3am :( I didn't want to use a dummy as he's only 9 days old.

I feel your pain. The first couple of nights at home were exhausting, LO constantly feeding, no break in between and would start to cry whenever I put her down. Co-sleeping isn't an option for us though. Unfortunately I have mastitis so can't BF atm x

as far as im aware em they say to bf thru the mastitis as it can help

The book I have on breastfeeding says whatever you do don't stop BF with mastitis because that will make it worse. Maybe you have had more specific instructions from your doctor or something though.

^^WSS

I do this with Cam for his early morning feed. I tend to dose while he feeds so i means i get a bit more rest and he can feed as much as he wants to

XX

I can't seem to breastfeed lying down, maybe I will eventually get the hang of it

There are some tips on I think Kellymom to help with lying down. Took me a while to get it. A pillow at my back helped me get the angle right, or DH behind me. X

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

I had this, was constantly feeding!! Oh put a little table by my eat on the sofa which I had snacks, the remote, the phone, a magazine and things like my make up bag (to pluck my eyebrows lol) which got me through the day. At night I struggled with lying down to feed at first too but it gets easier :-) x

I'm not breastfeeding yet so it's all still theory to me but I found the idea of 'Biological Nurturing' or 'Laid Back Breastfeeding' interesting. Once you get past the hippy language it seems like it could be quite comfortable and would be a less labour intensive method. You recline and put the baby on top of you so you don't have to use your strength to hold the baby.

Here's a couple of links:

Sounds exactly like me right now, minus the mastitis. It's our 3rd day at home and so exhausting xxxx

Yeah you're both right, I just couldn't cope with the pain  So I express instead. x

Ah, that makes sense, you poor thing, I hope you are feeling better now.

I hope you feel better now and your recovery is going well, my supply seems to really becoming in now, I can express 30mls in under 5 minutes wow, before that woudl have taken me 15-20 minutes

I struggled the first few days bf-ing and was ready to give up as it was so sore and i was exhausted.

now that the dairy is really producing milk i express if Elise is going anywhere without me (and i mean not on her own but to grandparents) but we have also started to introduce aptamil as a top up after each breastfeed as she is still not back at birthweight plus its there if the expressed milk is not enough while she is away from me

i find the rugby tackle (or as i call it playing the bagpipes) position is the best xx

LOl I've tried that position and that's supposed to be the best to stop gas but I haven't relaly mastered it so I have to do the traditional positon.

Thanks ladies, feeling much better this week, just still getting really tired very easily x
