Is anyone here still breastfeeding while pregnant with a new baby?

I am only 6 weeks pregnant and still bf my almost 2 year old at least twice a day. Is there anything I need to know or be aware of or can I just keep going as normal?

Thanks

Just keep going, but be aware it will prob get sore. And your milk can dry up early on. My DD self weaned about 8 weeks in just cos there was nothing there. Some kids are happy to dry nurse all the way through though.

Also nursing aversion (where you don't want to nurse) is pretty common.

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

I kept going as normal but slowly was producing less and less. In the end she was just dry nursing through habit morning and night (I didn't realise at first there was no milk coming out, didn't feel any different) but then just got sick of getting nothing I think and would only suck a few times then be done. Switched to giving her a beaker instead morning and night and she loves that and shows no interest in boob now.

It seems mad to me that some people leak milk during pregnancy who don't want to, but then those that want to keep producing milk dry up! Sure Mother Nature knows best.

I havent, but Ive seen a homebirth video where the mother still breastfed, she actually fed her DD while in labour to try and induce contractions I think x

tapatalking x

mine got so low that dd lost interest on her 1st birthday in march so we stopped. i do know someone that nursed her son til she dried up and then when she startedleaking milk during preg he started nursing again. its up to you and him but it seems most of us just carry on til the child stops wanting it lol

My supply pretty.much.was gone by 4 months so i stopped (my boy was 14 months). I.wanted a bit of a break, too

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Thanks all. I hate the thought of him weaning because of something ive done rather than in his own time. I know plenty of people bf through pregnancy fine and then go on to tandem feed but i dont know if they do anything special. I think a trip to my local la leche league is in order
Xxx

A friend of mine is currently tandem feeding and def didn't do anything special. Her daughter was happy to dry nurse though when milk changed - I think it's just a case of some kids are and some aren't! X

I Breastfed through pregnancy, found it difficult, then tandem fed, found that tough.
Didn't do anything special.
But I did o to my local LLL group, and that was fantastic. It was just so normal,t o be able to have a moan about the whole thing, without people telling me I should stop feeding him, and it was wrong :wall2:

I can't recommend la leche league enough! A fab organisation!!!
