Hi ladies (sorry for tri-hopping but feel you would be the best to answer....)

I am looking at breastfeeding, and I am clueless as to what kit I should buy.

* Should I get one with a pump as part of it or buy one separately?

* Electric or manual pumps!?!

* I am hoping (very wishful thinking) that I will be able to express and store in bottles for my OH to be able to help with the night feeds. Is this realistic, or possible?

* Is there a starter kit I can buy? I saw some Tommy Tippee ones but everything blew my mind....

Thanks!

:)

We actually decided not to go the expressing route, so the only 'kit' we needed was nursing bras, nipple cream and breast pads. The time and hassle of expressing and fading with bottles wasn't worth it for us, especially as my husband needs his sleep to be functional at work. He just looks after baby weekend mornings if she wakes up early so I can get a bit of sleep catch up. I was also concerned about making it too easy for myself to give up on a bad day and switch to formula.
So far so good, we're nearly at 6 months now, but I am looking forward to the day when she's eating enough solids that I can have a few hours off.
So I guess this was just to say that expressing is an optional extra, we chose not to, but I'm sure there'll be lots of input from people who made it work for them.
