I am getting on well with bf levi but he gulps down his milk to the point he chokes himself then gets such bad wind and cant get his breath, last night we had an episode that took over an hour to get him to calm down enough to settle and breath properly again.
I did try putting him back on the breast to calm him but that makes him worse, he is also on infacol before each feed and i cant complain at night as he sleeps well waking for a 5 minute 5 just the once.
How can i stopm the gulping etc?

I'd say it was the let down is more the thing. Once your supply settles down and LO learns how to cope with it he won't gulp so much.

I used to literally flood my LO when feeding in the first 8 weeks or so  He would gulp and need winding often because of it. I had a really fast let down in one boob and a bit slower in the other. Try expressing off a bit before his feed, might help.

I agree with Sherlock it sounds like you have a fast let down so expressing some off before each feed would help with that. Also try taking him off the breast throughout the feed and winding regularily, its a pain but it helped us when Ellie had colic in the early days. x

i do take him off to wind but he gets really cross so have to be quick to get a burp and let him back on again or we are back to square one with the breathing thing :wall:
i know i do get a fast let down but worry if i express it off i wont have enough for him.

I used to just express off the first bit so the flow wasnt so fast, give her what i'd expressed in a feeder cup (medela) then put her on breast. We used colief for colic which you have go give with milk to i added this to the expressed milk in the cup too. x

Its a small cup that they can lap the milk from, we struggled to get Ellie to take a bottle to this was our saviour!
