Hi, I breastfeed my daughter and she is 6 months old. Lately, when I try to get her to sleep during the day, she will only fall asleep on my breast or in the car. I don't want her to get used to taking my boob just to get to sleep. She also wont take a dummy. Does anyone have any advice on other ways to comfort her to get her to sleep?

Ohhh, this is a toughy, as I also have this problem! My son is 8 months old and he is still relying on me for boob in order to sleep! He keeps me up all night too!!

So, the only advice I could give you, is to be tough now and put him in his bed when he is sleepy. I haven't the heart to let my son scream it out - I'm just going with the flow!

I hope some of the other girls will have much better advice to give!

Good luck
Emilia xx

Hiya and welcome to the forum.
A few of us have various sleep related problems here!

Brody can get to sleep OK but I have troublke keeping him asleep LOL.

I would suggest a routine for bedtime and naptimes.
At night, Brody will have a bath, then a bottle, then I put him into his gro-bag, and he gets put into his cot awake. He's not too bad at going to sleep this way, and for naptime, I put him into his gro-bag still, so it gives him a signal that it's time to sleep.

Here's a good link

Let us know how you get on!

Hi thanks urchin. My dd is brilliant at going to sleep at nightime, it's just during the day that's the problem. I think she thinks that she will miss something if she goes to sleep. Or it could be her teeth that are making her so unsettled. Or maybe it's the daylight.....who knows :? I will let you guys know if it gets any better.

Aw have you got a blackout blind?

I have one in our nursery, it's a godsend!

You know, I was just telling someone yesterday that I need to buy one bcuz I think that the daytime nap problem would be conquered if I buy one. I have been going on to DH for months to measure the window so that I can buy one. I think I will remind him again

Hi there

My daughter is just 3 days older than your little one and I have to say she is exactly the same with day time naps ( I wish I could say that she's the same with nighttime but unfortunately Olivia doesn't sleep well then either!)

I used to close her blind and curtains in her room during day time naps but someone told me that I should get her used to sleeping in the day light because otherwise I'd have a nightmare trying to get her to sleep if it wasn't dark.

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions - just to let you know you're not alone!

Lucy

Thanks Lucy! Some days she is alright at going down during the day and sometimes not. I suppose I will just have to go with the flow like everyone else said.
I love your daughters name. It was one of my favorites when we were picking names. Would love to chat sometime and compare notes :D

I would like some help on this too!! Jacob is still relying on my boobie to get to sleep. He found his thumb at 11 weeks which helped lots as we could put him down after his feed and he would sooth himself to sleep with his thumb. However lately he has started to bite at everything in site (he has been dribbling badly for the past few weeks too) and so has lost the thumb as he is more interested in biting his whole fist! I went to a 1st birthday part yesterday and one of the mum's told me that he son got his first tooth at 17weeks, Jacob will be 16 weeks next week - could he be teething? Getting back on track..... he has to be put in his cot asleep at night which is getting tedious. I have more patience than DH, he says that we should be leaving him to cry in his cot now not standing rocking him unitl he falls to sleep which sometimes can take all evening  I just don't know what to do for the best :?

Xxx
