Breastfeeding and co-sleeping........

Hello

During our 3.30-4.30am feed Rudy comes into bed with us. He then usually wakes again at 6am for a feed. At the moment I sit up in bed to give this feed. I really want to master the art of feeding whilst lying dow but just can't seem to do it without LO getting sick.

What positions do you do it in? Do you have the sick problem? What about changing boobs as when LO is in bed with me I sleep on my side so only one boobs is accessable really?

I put a muslin underneath her in the early days to catch the sick. I only put her in bed with me on the 5-6am feed, so only need one boob, but if for any reason i need to swap boobs i just slide her along and use the other! So she'll either be in the middle of the bed or i will. I always push OH along though to make sure she's not too close to the bed!

never had sick problem.
if I need to change boob I slide him across to the other side.

We didn't start co-sleeping til about 5m but I can now feed her from both boobs lying on the one side. For the bottom boob I lean slightly back- best to put a pillow or blanket behind you to begin with. For the top boob I just lean slightly forward and she is probably lying more on her back than her side for that.

i lay him sideways facing me skin to skin (no nightware for me) and he latches on brilliantly hes loves laying down to feed and after burping he falls sleep again I like doing this as its more comfortable and feels so sweet to be close to my boy
I use a muslin to catch the milk he dribbles back up
I dont move him when he feed i just move my body and prop my right arm so i dont smother him as he feeds on my left boob, then i lay down compleatly for the right boob so each boob is in the correct area for him to latch on

Thats my way of doing it and it works for us im sure you'll find the way that suits you

Same!! I do have to use a towel in the night though as i have too much milk and she pours it out of her mouth on to the bed!!

i also sometime lie her over me, kinda like the traditional sitting possition, she clamps on to boob then gets herself comfy, which usually means her legs being off to the side and lying on her tummy. not sure if other babies would like this though. shes happy to feed in any way as lomg as she gets boobie!!

Yep i do as above! Coopers in with me all night. He lays in middle of bed and if i need to swop boob i move to the other side instead of moving him. We have no sick probs but we do lie on towel as he dribbles milk xx
