i want to stop breastfeeding and go over to bottle feeding.
i do 1 feed a day bottle feeding atm and the last feed of the night bottle.
i just have a few questions...

1.should i cut down slowly from breatfeedin to bottle or can i do it all in one wack and jst start her all on bottle?
2. what do u do wen ur out and want to feed as i wouldnt think a made up bottle would be okay to be out the fridge for a day?
3. if i bought the made up milk to take out with me and took a bottle that had been sterilised out can that bottle be used after its been out the steriliser even tho it has the lid on etc. if tht makes sence? like will that bottle still be sterile to use after being taken out the steriliser and put together?
4. do u wind a baby until they burp and how long shud u wind them for?
5. how much does breastfeeding help u loose weight? i still have a flabby tummy n want to no how much breastfeeding will help that.

thanks :)

I would cut down over a period of at least a week. The sudden change over may give her an upset tummy.

Honestly, I though BF'ing would make me a size 10 in a few weeks but i'm still the same size I was after birth now lol! Although I can eat for england! It 'can' make you lose weight but not always. BF'ing uses up to 2-300 extra calories a day.

You can buy cartons of ready made formula (stored at room temp) which my friend uses a lot when we're out. She uses a flask to heat the milk (http://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/new_travel_bottle_and_food_warmer_/) That one to be precise. I think a sealed empty bottle is sterile for up to 24hrs (could be wrong).
I asume you burp them the same as a breastfed baby. Bottle fed babies have a bigger tendancy to get trapped wind so may need burping a bit more but it shouldn't be too different. Hope this helps.

May I ask why you want to stop breastfeeding? :-) x

Im currently slowly swapping from breast to bottle as Tegan is Lactose intolerant and Im struggling on a total dairy free diet! the pediatrician told me to change one feed at a time then a few days later do another feed this was over a week ago and so far i've only managed to cut out one feed, Tegan loves Booby to much so Im just going to stay dairy free and keep trying with a bottle x

ai would cut down slowly not just for your lo but for you cause your milk supply will slowly decrease and it wont hurt as much x

Please cut down slowly to give her digestive system time to get used to the change. breastmilk is extremely easy for them to digest compared to formula.
xx

Lily, you can get powder forumula tubs that hold three lots of powder you measure out in the morning, and take with you in your bag. Then you just carry sterilized bottles of the cooled boiled water (nothing to get old or waste milk). When you need to feed pour in the powder amount from the tub and shake the bottle. My kids never got it warmed up so never knew the diff! (great for night feeds too).

I must admit I still have to wind with BF this time, but it is way less windy than mine gokt with bottles.
