I have decided to get OH to feed bab in evening before bed with bottle of my breast milk to try and get her used to it. Last night it didnt go well, as she had half of it, but wouldnt have any more and then half an hour later needed breastfeeding! I think we will need to persevere and I read that you might need to give the baby a break for 10 mins in the middle of the bottle feed and then carry on which OH didnt do.

I am really worrying though about everything being sterilised properly - I have a steam steriliser and have used this to clean the pump and bottle. It says on the guidelines to clean them first with water and washing up liquid before they go in the steamer. It came with a brush as well though and the instructions advise to use this to clean as well. It might be a really stupid question, but how do you do this and how much brushing do you do? I'm not sure what I'm doing!!! Please help me!!!!

I wash everything in hot soapy water and use the brush to make sure its clean, nothing spectacular id say just like u wash ur own pots... then rinse to get rid of any bubbles and put everything the steriliser.

As far as using a bottle i'd say persevere, we really struggled to get Ellie to have a bottle and now the only way she will take one is by standing up and bouncing her whilst feeding her the bottle  its a pain but it works :)

Thanks so much for this - it makes sense now! My brain really is like mush at the moment! I had pictured using the brush before or after washing in soapy water to scrub out debrie and wasnt sure what to do. Using it like a washing up brush makes sense!
What a relief, I'm just worrying about the baby getting germs etc. :wall:
Wish I could stop worrying about everything!!!

Baby Smile will stick anything in his mouth now :wall: if he thinks it might contain food! but we still had problems to start with.

We found that OH couldn't feed him if I was in the room as he got confused  we don't give him a break in the middle but OH did sit in the same place I used to breast feed him in for the first few weeks until he got the hang of it. good luck
