I am planning on breastfeeding but not sureif its necessary to have a pump to express? Shall I just wait and see how I go first or shall I have one ready?

Do you think its good to express sometimes to let dad be involved in feeding time or not?

I guess if I was to feed bub Rob could wind him/her to feel involved...

do you have a home bargains near you?
is so ive seen the tomee tippee breast in there for £10 think its £25 in mothercare

I got the tomee tipee electric one from mothercare half price, I figured that if I didn't open it then I could probably get my money back on ebay...

I bought a hand pump from Mothercare, I used it but it was a pain in the arse - made my hand ache but worked fine. :)

If you see a good deal then by all means get it :) It's not advised to pump too soon for various reasons - you need to wait 4-6 wks min really. Dad's can change, wind, bath, play with, talk to babies to bond. Feeding isnt the only bonding activity. Babies can smell the milk on mums and will often settle better for dads too :)

So true about Dad's being able to settle them better as they can smell the milk on Mum, we experienced this all the time. I expressed as I had to due to Evie not latching on, I used a hand pump which was ok but it does make your hand ache after a while

Thanks guys. ThinkI will keep my eye out for one and if i see one on offer I will get it. If not, I wont stress about it x

Asda have a baby event at the moment offering the Tommy Tippee closer to nature manual pump for only £10
