is anyone done or going to breast feed?

i really want to try it this time because i can save a lot of time and money and help baby grown better etc

The thing is by the time i have given birth i just dont have the energy up all night trying to give birth then baby here and dad normally holds and feeds puts baby down then i get some sleep i know may sound bit harsh but my body shuts down after giving birth till i have had a good sleep x

I breast fed my first two, the first til 8 months the second til 13 months. All being well will be feeding this one come September.
It is really hard to get up to them sometimes but I think the mothering instinct sets in, I found I would wake, change, feed and fall back to sleep the second my head hit the pillow. Although I have to admit I am lucky and my boobs are set on fast flow! LOL.

I havent decided what to do this time around yet. I formula fed Adam and had no intention to breast feeding, but this time im going to think about it x x

I loved it. I'm a bit of a past master now so if I can answer any questions I will do. x

Thats great yorksmummy :) i may need your help and advice when we are making our minds up.
OH doesnt like the thought of it as he thinks if i bf hes not going to be able to be as hands on as he was with Adam, ive tried to explain i can express but he just pulls a face x x

I'm hoping to breastfeed :) I might also express after LO is a few weeks old (if all goes well with BF) as OH has said he would like to be involved in feeding too xx

Yorksmummy, just a quick question? Did you find it easier to lose weight after giving birth whilst breastfeeding? I've heard as well as being good for baby it also burns something like 500 calories a day? xx

I am not breastfeeding, i don't think i will be comfortable with it...but maybe with my second. I just don't feel ready to do it just yet x

Yep, I will be bf again. I bf Lennon for 5 months until I had to go back to work then moved him onto formula. I tried expressing but couldn't get enough out for all of his feeds.

I really wanted to breast feed my son but I had an emergency c section and I didn't really produce any milk, I tried to get help from the NHS breast feeding expert in my area and she was really mean and shouted at me!! I will definately try again with this baby, I just hope I have a little more success. I'm a little nervous about feeding in public, not sure how I will cope with that one but I'm looking forward to trying again

Yorksmummy- Any idea how to help my body produce milk? I tried pumping and taking vitamins but nothing happened?:cry:After I had to switch on to formula HV told me it was much harder to bf if you have had a c section. I really want to be prepared as another section is a possibilty and I felt such a failure last time!

Flugel - with my first I got back to my pre pregnancy weight in 6 months with breast feeding with out trying (didn't with my second but was suffering a bit with depression due to our circumstances so comfort ate)

Mookie - Both mine went to breast within an hour of being born. I was told to eat plenty of carbs by the midwife, sandwiches, cake etc, and both babies were at my bedside until they were six months old. Neither had dummies and I was also the comforter in that way. I have heard people say that it is more difficult after a c- section but then my friend had two c-sections and fed both. Sometimes it's just all down to the baby. I had to try numerous positions with my first to find a way she could feed, which made me feel like giving in but once we'd got a position sorted we were ok. Will have a look to see what I can find out about c-sections and breastfeeding for you. It could just be down to finding the right position so you're not sore (I couldn't feed either babies in the "traditional" looking way with them in my arms).

Oh and I think it took 5 days for my milk to come through properly.

Thank you! I think I tried for 5-6 days and nothing happened. Unfortunately I had no idea what I was doing so I didn't know what to eat or to try other postions. MIL spent 9 months telling me how easy it is to bf! Thank you again for any help xxx

I breastfed my daughter for 10 months... She wouldnt take anything else, no bottle etc.. And I found it very stressful... And my milk wasnt very healthy a nurse told me as I was lacking vitamines etc.. But in the start I really enjoyed it. And i think is a personal choice, if the mother is happy the baby is... So I will see how it goes next time, although I would like to go for bottle but I know its better for the baby with breastmilk...

Mookie - some people do find it easy others don't, it has always been the case. People used to have wet nurses beofer the days of formula. Will see what websites I can find for you to show different positions etc.

Abbiecourt - nursing tops, a blanket and a quiet corner had always worked ok for me. (my HV was very good at helping with discrete feeding techniques) Or I'd feed in baby change as there's often a chair in there etc. My local shopping centre actually has a breastfeeding room now. Places are becoming more and more breast feeding friendly. Or if baby will take a bottle you can always express.

I enjoyed breastfeeding my second, i loved how all the men moved from the living room to the kitchen, they felt uncomfortable, very funny x

i cannot wait now i love that skin to skin contact x

Haha :) My uncle used to shout in the door when I was younger at my mum "Oi...You dont have your jugs out do you?" - Charming...

I'm going to breast feed my children if I can. My husband is coeliac and has allergies so we're going to try everything we can to make sure they don't develop them. If I'm too tired to get up then I'll be expressing in the evening and my hubby can have a go at feeding :)
