Breast Feeding Question

I never BF with my first, but am planning on when this little man comes along. Just wondering how mum's coped with the first outings (long shopping trips, anything being outdoors really) How did it feel the first few times? I know you cant ignore when baby is hungry and needs feeding. I am just not sure what to expect more from other people than anything.
Any advice welcome.

Hey hun, I felt super nervous about feeding in public, but I found some great tops that had vertical opening so were very discreet.
I was more worried about myself/ flashing a nip etc than I was about other peoples opinions ir reactions, in fact no-one has batted an eyelid to me.
I would recommend practising discreet feeding at home before you go for it in public if you feel nervous about it. I also bought a pashmina that I could drape over me (thinner than a blanket) for when i'm not wearing a b'f top (i.e. summer vest that I can just pull up or down).

I didnt venture out with Oli until she was about a month and half old, and didnt feed her in public until she was about 2 half months.

It was really scary at first, but now I couldnt care less

I used to use a shawl but we both have found a great position and knowone knows we are breatfeeding, So only use it if we are out having a meal

I found this great thing online that a friend recommended called a "hooter hider"!! The name is good enough alone! It's like an apron that you put over your head, covers your "hooters" but stands out slightly at the front so you can arrange the baby and keep an eye on him/her. Have a look online! It costs $35 (I'm in the States) but it works!

Either that or wear a scarf or carrya shawl and drape it around you, that should save your blushes!

I was also nervous at first but after you get the hang of it , theres nothing too it, you do get the odd bad looks and nasty comments but just got to ignore it

I have fed Grace right form the beginning in public - one of my friends gave me a good tip though which have really helped - especially as I have huge boobs

she said to wear a little strappy top underneath my ususal top - then pull the top on the outside up and the strappy top down - if that makes sense. that way there is only a small amount of the boob (Plus tummy etc) on show

Like you emmylou I am more bothered about flashing a bit of nipple and someone seeing As it is going to be summer I think strappy vest tops are going to be a god send
Tasha, I really dont think I could wait that long to venture out, it would drive me insane, saying that who knows how I will react
I really wish I had BF with Josh cause I dont think I would be feeling so nervous this time round. Oh well cant change it now can I? Just looking forward to having that closeness with LO and no one being able to come along and take MY job away from me.
