Bottle woes :(

I have been sending Tilly to my mums with expressed milk and also to PILs.

They have never reported an issue with her taking the milk before ever.

I have tried 2 nights on the trot now to use up some milk I have expressed and she won't bloody take it. Even hubby has tried but she won't take it from him either.

She's gagging/choking on the teat and going red in the face etc

Any advice for me? I can't believe she'll take it no bother when someone else has her. I feel trapped again

Hmm, not sure hun- is it the teat? Or position she's fed in perhaps?......mayb its just a spell when she wants to b clingy to u? Do u hold her in the cradle position? Have heard some babies won't take bottle like this coz its a bf position? Could try sitting her in a swing seat or bouncer to give bottle? Only other thought is temperature- is milk warm enough? Ethan likes it v warm! X

I'm not sure... K was combi fed until she was six weeks old when I decided to see if I had increased my supply enough to do without the bottles. Since then she completely refuses the bottle. She may just know you are there and have something better. Hopefully she will still take a bottle if you aren't near. Good luck!

sometimes alyssa will only take the bottle if shes lying on the pillow in my lap like when i bf her, sometimes she wont take one at all, sometimes she will take it after i have given her boob and now sometimes she even screams at the boob and takes bottle instead. cos shes teething she wont take warm milk, it has to be cool too. theyre so bloody fussy arent they lol

A lot of the bfing girls from my anitnatal group had the same prblem at the same age!! Cud jut be a phase but maybe try faster flwing teats??

Maybe its because you are with her she knows booby is available but not with other people?

yeah Alyssa takes a bottle great for nan and when im not around but if she can see me or knows im there and dosent wanna take her bottle then me and oh have no chance lol, she knows what she wants and sometimes wont take no for an answer lol

I'm not having the bottle because I know my mummy is here and I'd rather have the booby?

Jeez... How on earth am I supposed to get my hubby to do the late feed then?!? Haha

Lol they are really smart! I left K with dh twice and both times she refused to eat until I came home! Now I won't leave her for more than an hour. She has me wrapped around her little finger haha.

Hey Hun, sorry, tri hopping. I had the same problem with my son, only he would refuse a bottle till he was 6 months old!! We went through every type of bottle and with different people giving it to him, both expressed and even tried formula. In the end we found MAM bottles. They are brilliant. Anti colic and are aimed at bf babies. Babies r us do them. Hope it works for you! I remember the 6 months well, I loved feeding my little boy so much but it's awful if you are poorly or something and they won't go to someone else xxx
