went to the GP yesterday and ther was some suger in my urine so i have to have a glucose tolerance test. It takes about 3 hours or so and you can't eat for 12 hours beforehand (it is usually done in the monring for that reason).

So now i have to ring the hospital and book that in.

she also wouldn't do anythng about my pelvis yet, she did say if it was still sore in 10 dyas to ring back and leave a messgae and she would refer me from that.

But she said i can't wear high heals. Good grief does she realise i have 15 weeks to go with no heals! Apparently this is not importnat (mutter mutter). But also i shouldn't be going to the gym (oh darn upset about that NOT).

Hi there,

Sorry you got to go through GTT i was nobbled at my 14 week scan (last tuesday) when I saw my consultant she said that i needed to be booked in at 28 weeks for GTT.. first thoughts where omg thats 3 months away! So GTT lady came in with her book and I am having to be in at 8.30am like you for 3 hours  i was given a slip of paper saying i cant eat after 10pm the previous evening but drinking water is allowed! Easy for them to say :rotfl: i like my cup of tea and breakfast in the morning.

At least you not got too long to wait..

Take care

Good luck! I hope the results come back ok Sandi

I've got mine two weeks on Friday :(

Mine isn;t too bad though- I need to drink a set amount of lucozade 1 hour before I am due my appointment, note the time and then make sure my blood is taken exactly one hour after that time. I only have to start fasting just before I drink the lucozade. It sounds like others have a much worse time than me.

I have to have one cause theres alot of diabetes in my family so im high risk think its the lucozade one though so thats cool hasn't been booked yet think midwife said would be at 28 weeks

i've got type 2 in my dad's family as well, but they haven't organised the lucozade one mybe this will cover both anyway.

I have to have 1 aswell got to be there at 8:00am! And cant eat or drink anything but water from 10pm the night before. It just says a sample of blood will be taken, i'll be given a glucose drink then they'll taken another blood specimen after 2hours.. does that mean it'll be a drink of lucozade or something similar i'll have to drink? x

i have to have the GTT as well.
For me i have to fast from midnight, have a blood test when i get to the hospital in the morning, drink this sugary orange juice, then exactly three hours later i have to have a 2nd blood test.
I had to have it last pregnancy and this one because my dad got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes after my first pregnancy.

It's funny how there is different types of tests depending on where you live!

There seems to be two ways, the Lucozade test which is just a drink adn then blood tested an hour later or the proper GTT which involves fasting and then being given a glucose drink and then having a few blood tests after that.

At least your work has to give you the three hours as paid time off considering it's a maternity related appointment :D

Sorry about the heels :( It'll soon be flip-flop weather hopefully :D

Thanks Alex, was kinda hoping it would be just a drink of Lucozade and a blood test as it sounds nicer lol no such luck for me then mine sounds like the proper GTT! x
