Boob pain

I've got a tender area on one of my boobs. It is tender to touch but not red or anything. I'm also getting stabbing painful the same area- both when feeding and when not. I'm worried that it might be the start of mastitis.

Has anyone had mastitis?

Not had it but mw did tell me that stabbing/shooting pains were an indicator of infrction, worth calling mw/hv and asking as I guess the quicker its sorted the better, hope its nothing though

It's not so bad today but went to see my GP today and he's given me antibiotics so it doesn't turn nasty. I've got to feed/express through it so hopefully it will resolve itself in a couple of days!

I've had an aching pain twice now. I just put her to that breast more and it's gone in a day. Hope you're better soon x

I've had some pains like this too and I just make sure I empty that boob regularly and massage the bit where it hurts while Lizzie is feeding, seems to 'loosen' it up a bit

same here I had it a few weeks back went as quickly as it came x

I got pains like that in the early days and nearly always found it was because I needed to express - my boobs seemed to go into overdrive every now and again at the time but everything's nice and regular now, it soon sorts itself out

Thanks everyone for your replies. Overall it does feel better today. I have expressed a few times and got Isla to feed on that one slit so hopefully that will do the trick!

The stabbing pain seems to have subsided today - boob is still tender and just generally aches. Hope it will improve further...
